Thanks for the suggestion. I read the bible last night and i turned to put it away and when I looked up a band new Ampeg Heritage B-15 was sitting in front of me glistening in all its glory. Thanx guy.

what if i blew compressed air into the input jack would that possibly clean it out or might it do damage?

Electronic cleaner spray might be in order..

My $ says LOOSE CONNECTION, as the low E string makes it do it's thing.

Bass reverberation wiggling the bad connection, causing it to go intermittent/short.

is there anything i can do my self to fix the loose connection or I should just take it in to get fixed?

Just get it fixed by some one good, or buy a new one. Do you want to be a musician or a technician.

Some of the replies to this are excellent , and filled with experience.

However when you are counting on a piece of equipment , it pays to think it through. Sometimes that means spending a few cabbages. Good luck.

Then I smoked an amp I loved accidentally after I almost got a shock that finished the story.

Now I pay the pros to do the work and they do it correctly and completely because they know it all.

(sucks to pay the $, but better off to do it right the 1st time)

So here's the verdict. Cold solder for the master knob, as well as a blown Tweeter.

Does it only do it with the reverb up? Could be a ground wire, reverb spring touching the pwr, rvb tubes...

Trouble sHoot DIVIDE & CONQUER or 'HALF SPLIT" method
1) Get two Guitars A & B
2) Get two chords (A = Your old cord) , (B = a new Cord)

Code: Select all-Plug Guitar A Into Amp  using Cord A :  Verify the sound problem still exists.
-Repeat Using Cord B.  If the sound prob goes away , Your cord (A) was the prob. In that case swap to new cord (B)
But, If sound prob is still there   Do Next step:

Code: Select allPlug Guitar B into AMP, using Cord A: Verify that the sound problem still exists.
If the Sound Prob Goes away, its the cord jack sleeve in Guitar A, which needs repair.
If the Prob does not go away.  The problem is not the Guitars or the cords, but the amp.  In that case, check the Jack Sleeve of the amp.

(Do what slacker suggested i.e clean the jacks and or solder as necessary). If , after this, the problem is still there, the amp will need technician support.
