I've been singing in various styles for well over 30 years now in bands and as a solo.

I think I've still got a pretty good voice and I've had good feedback on the few opportunities that I manage to get these days to get up and join in with others at Jams/ open mics.

Although I’ve advertised for musos of a similar level on Bandmix and other sites I’m getting very little response!
Singers used to be hard to come by, has that changed now that everyone sings karaoke?
At age 51 I can’t afford to waste much more time!
Can anyone offer me constructive advice on how to maximise the hit rate?

AT our age, you just simply have to lie. Offer great sums of cash and make promises you know you aren't gonna keep. If they complain, just remind them its all in preparation for dealing with the real A & R agents.


Seriously though, Bandmix by itself is probably the least of the places to check... Bandmix in conjunction with tons of other sites, visits to real venues and shoppes and plain old networking is reasonable approach. This may sound a bit crazy, but start looking around at churches... Many folk looking to bust out of their Hail-Marys between 9-5 lives... . Ya never know.

having hellish times trying to find a singer. I'm a drummer - I ended up back playing after 7 years out cos a friend of a friend of a friend needed a drummer....turned out they were dickheads, but then i answered adverts.

now in a great band - but no singers who can sing turn up for auditions. they all swear they will - we have all their contact details...then they just dont come.

the crap singers do. they always freakin show.

its so depressing - been together 2/3 months and still cant get anyone. the singers all claim to like the music too - so why the f@@k dont they turn up???

its gonna end up we have to either go instrumental or just quit again.

how do you get a drummer - advertise for people who have been out of it for a few years and want to play again - there is a few of us out there, and we are good. a lot of the drummers coming thru on the sites are v young and inexperienced. old haggard souls who have been there gigged it just need a bit of encouragement to play again...

and the sites you advertise on are the ones that come up first when you google the words 'drummer wanted birmingham' or wherever you are from....see where i'm going with that? its the first places people look for drummer wanted ads...

HAHAHA, 2-3 mths???? We been looking for a decent singer for 7 mths and counting...I'm sure the music is alright haha. The good news is, about 6mths in, you stop caring

Sorry you're all having such a hard time. Mostly I found people for my band through music college where I was for the last two years, plus a friend from my old band, who I met on a songwriting course.

Theres is a big music scene in Brighton, best way to meet people is to go to gigs open mikes, music classes and netywork on facebook!! A friend suggested I came on here cos we really needed a drummer, but now one of my band mates has swicthed to drumming. We will see how it goes.

Wouldnt mind another guitarist and keyboard player tho so I dont have to play. I sing. Also interested in joining a covers or rock band if anyone would like a female singer?
