My band is appearing live 2-4 pm THIS Saturday at a private disc golf party at Cliff Drive Park, Kansas City, Mo. Hopefully it won't rain...We've been doing some serious rehearsing and sounding quite good on some more challenging material: Curtis Salgado, Robben Ford, Tinsly Ellis, Louis Jordan, James Brown, Little Feat, to name a few. We're a damn good band.

Sounds like fun. I have to check out disc golf, it combines two activities I can actually do (golf & frisbee).

. I have played both golf and disc golf. They are both challenging in their own way. The governing body of disc golf is the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). Go to the PDGA website and look around. There is PDGA Course Directory which is a guide to disc golf courses in the United States. I'm sure there's plenty of courses in your area. The vast majority of disc golf courses are free to play. The two biggest golf disc manufacturers, Discraft and Innova, have excellent, informative websites. As far as which discs to buy for a beginner I'd recommend starting with five discs: a stable putter, three midrange discs covering three stability ratings, and an understable long range driver. Discs are made out of different types of plastic. When you visit the Discraft and Innova websites they will explain the difference between the types of plastic used. I prefer Discraft but Innova is the most popular brand. The last two world champions are Discraft sponsored players Nate Doss and Eric McCabe. I actually played a round with McCabe. His talent is astounding. It was like gigging with Jeff Beck. Each model disc comes in a weight range measured in grams. Generally the heavier the disc the more stable it is. Personally I prefer the heaviest putters and midrange discs and drivers mid-weight. My recommendation for a beginner is putter Discraft Magnet, midrange Meteor, Buzzz, Drone and driver Avenger SS. For me drivers work best in Z plastic (Discraft). I prefer putters in regular plastic. I prefer midrange discs in ESP or ESPFLX plastic. Like most people you may end up preferring Innova. Check it out and give it a try.

I've got a Frizbee Championship given to me from whom you remind me of directly. Fantastic boss, and we stayed in upper class hotels and ate like kings. I will research "Disc Golf" to it's fullest. I've got the perfect grounds for a course of this nature. I use it as a driving course, but it can be narrow, which leads to nothing more than lost balls. I entertain the grandchildren by throwing a frizbee high into the air and catching it time after time. Something I learned in the service. Frizbee was big in the Marines along with touch football which many were injured.

Have a great show, Bob! There's a disc golf course near my house; it's pretty popular.

. Frisbees of yesteryear and modern golf discs are nothing like each other, except maybe some of the disc golf putters. You do NOT want to play catch with a modern disc golf driver especially. They have a sharp beveled edge and are engineered to fly FAST. If you throw a Discraft Nuke high into the air and attempt to catch and miss (likely) it will crease your forehead. Disc golf courses have holes ranging from 250 ft to 800 ft.or LONGER. A "course of this nature" containing 100 foot holes will be like a practice putting green in ball golf.

We played well as usual. Good reviews. Played with hot, young saxophone player Michael Lefever. The band before us had a major problem. Drummer passed out during their show. He later passed out again while loading his drums. That's rough. Perhaps God's giving him a message.

I found out later he's legally blind. Somebody mentioned he ate too much sugar so I assume he's diabetic. Could have been drunk or stoned too. Don't know for sure. Rough gig for that band, shame...

Blindness is common with advanced stages of Diabetes... When the blood sugar spikes, it actually causes damage to nerves, capallaries, Interior lining of arteries (Hence people can develop and eventually throw clots from the pitted areas of the lining, where the blood pools.)

It sounds like maybe this guy aint taking real good care of his own situation...or if he is, he is just too deep now into the complications that diabetes causes. Either way, The doc visits should get in there
