I have emailed Band Mix for years that they need to have a category for lead vocalist. Everyone checks vocals in their own profile, so if you search on vocalist, you basically get everyone.

Anyone else figured out how to narrow a search for lead vocalist?

Narrow is your problem. Cast the net wide then sift the catch.
I am going to ( for conversation sake ) assume at this point you are a premier member of Bandmix.

Work it like this:

First order of business is a well endowed profile.
Information about who what when where and audio samples.

Secondly use the search function by zip code daily, with your only limiting parameter being the travel radius you would expect to be a normal for practice and gigging in your area and your particular need.

Example :
Our people travel about 40 miles one way once a week for rehearsals.
We are an "part time" band and are not paid to play.
Now if I was offering a $100 K salary, I'd expect a hell of a lot more.

Third: Filter the search results by last date active and message EVERYONE who has been active in the last 24 hours in your area.
( people know people who are not on Bandmix ).
Use a note pad to keep track if you must.
( not necessary as Bandmix's message system will store it all for you and you can archive it for years )

Fourth:
Daily log in & check for responses .
( expect a send to receive ratio of 20:1 so you wont get disappointed / frustrated )
And go IMMEDIATELY to step two, and message everyone whom has been active in the last 24 hrs and you have not already messaged.

I completed our five piece band with this simple method.
Yes it took months of dedicated search and message on my part.
( perhaps ten minutes a day )

I feel this is the only effective method for utilizing Bandmix to it's fullest potential in locating potential Bandmates.

The interview and audition process ... that is a whole nother topic.

Thanks for the replies. But wouldn't it be a whole lot easier if Bandmix just added an instrument option for lead vocalist?

I meet them in bars, get them drunk, then one of me mates bops them from behind. They wake up in a strange place out at sea where we force them at gunpoint to learn all our songs, by the time we make land, they're part of the crew.
