This is not directed to those of you who have due to circumstances beyond your control and lost your jobs and are on hard times.
This is directed to those individuals who feel they're entitled to live as musicians and that music should be their life. That they just can't survive in the corporate world or the world of working and making a living like many of us here, that they feel they have to live as artists.
In that case, get some f**k insurance then!
I listen to many of these people bitch and moan about illegals and people on welfare milking the system. But yet they choose to live as artists and they don't have health insurance, life insurance or anything and it's pissing me off. So they hate the illegals and the poor, but somehow they're entitled to sit back and just create their art and us friends and fans should pick up their slack. So not only do we need to come to their shows, buy tickets, buy drinks, buy their music, somehow the burden of supporting them when they get sick falls on us too!
In the past 6 months, I've gotten at least four e-mails with people either on their death bed or suffering from cancer, or dead and they're having a fundraiser because these guys don't have squat as far as a policy of any kind. And because they're that bloody good at what they do, they've "sacrificed" themselves of making a living (like us other artists do) so therefore, I should dig in my pocket and help these guys out.
Hello people, you're f**k human, and you're not 20 anymore! You're getting old! That means your ass is gonna get sick at some point and you're gonna get a sh*t load of medical bills because you and people like you don't want a socialized medical system. So if you don't believe in that, then get off your ass and get a fricking health insurance and a cheap life insurance policy like the rest of us artists do. They're out there.
I work and I'm supporting 2 kids, have adopted two others who I'm helping out, I have other people I help out, so when I get paid, my frickin' check is pretty much gone every two weeks. I don't have any extra money to help any of my poor artistic friends out who I've had to listen go on about how they can't survive having a job because they're artistic, have ADHD or what the f**k. I'm lucky if I can give them $5. What I do with my own art is because I got off my ass and learned how to do it myself or I've learned how to make payments and barter.
Honestly, you can get a cheap life insurance policy of at least $10,000 for like $10 a month. There are high deductible medical insurance policies out there. Get them. If you're a working musician, you should think to set aside at least $50-$100 a month to take care of yourself and not think that when you get sick your friends will just hold a fundraiser for you.
I don't appreciate getting e-mails GUILTING me into doing something or because a lot of people didn't participate. I mean, I don't want to hear "we chose to do our art for you and unfortunately we don't have health insurance because that's our life."
WTF! No, you didn't choose to do your art for me, you're not f**k Joan of Arc who led the French army to protect the land, you people chose to do it because your lazy asses didn't want a job. You think because you're artistic that you can just make the decision that "oh I can't survive in the corporate environment." Well, then get some f**k insurance than if you want to live like that!
Don't send me emails talking about what a low turnout you got, or about how you didn't get that much money.
I mean, how many famous musicians frickin' die or got sick, and find out they don't have any insurance and want the fans to contribute. Really? You're playing with all these big named players and you can't get off your ass and get a cheap $3 - $5K policy to bury your ass, leaving your family and friends to come up with the money. You selfish frickin' pigs! But you got money for blow, your little vacations to Hawaii and all the fun you have bragging about how you do this doing your music.
So if you want to bitch about welfare and illegals, then have the decency to care enough about your friends and family to not behave like a welfare recipient to them. Get some frickin' insurance!
That's all!
