Wondering what drugs we have all been used by or are still being used by?

Obviously, I'll go first!

Smoked pot in high school . . . Quaaludes, cocaine, acid, speed, angel dust in my 20's . . . cocaine during my professional career (30's-40's) . . . crack when I stopped touring . . . quit everything in the last 7 years . . . have been an alcoholic all through these years and still am. Life is good!

What I haven't tried or abused is a much shorter list...

Weed, speed (every kind you can think of), quaaludes, Mandrax, hydrocodone, LSD, mushrooms, hash, THC, angel dust, PCP, alcohol, peyote (not enough, it didn't do anything), coke, basically everything but heroin, morphine and crack. Never wanted anywhere near those.

Now I smoke cigarettes and the occasional left handed one. Quit everything else 35 years ago. I was really surprised I made to age 30...never expected that...

Name it.
Done it & probably sold it too.

Short of the " modern " synthetics like crack or x, and I was never into needles.

Raw black tar opium and Lebanese blond hash were the best I think.

Cocaine ... was an addiction ... I put my last quarter on my English Professor's desk back around 1980 and told her
" This is the reason I missed so many classes when you dropped me. Let me back in class and I swear I'll never touch it again "

She did and I didn't.

Never realized how much pot effects the system.
When I was heavy into my Kung Fu training I noticed that when I would burn one on occasion my timing and perception would be off for 6 to 7 days.
If it were legal I'd probably still burn one on a rare occasion.

For about a year I roomed in a house with three women and one guy, they all smoked pot all the time. I was never even tempted. (Now women, that's a different matter.) I can honestly say that I got drunk once in my life, when my brother was sent to a VA home I knew he never would live in his own apartment ever again, and I was right. He died not long after that. What a waste of a brilliant artist..

Not that I condone drug use but I will say that 'certain' drugs 'can be' used in a creative way such as pot (which I don't like), alcohol (which I like too much), and psychedelics. They can contribute to an almost Shamanic, mind-opening enlightenment when used properly under the right circumstance.

Other drugs like cocaine, heroin, and all the designer drugs just shut the mind down, close off creativity, and numb the emotions. Who can write great music with those facilities shut down?

Luis Armstrong smoked pot for inspiration, according to him, and he went through a lot of it. Pot was used by musicians more than the general population for a good many years. There is a point where wearing the edge off crosses to not being able to function properly. I see nothing wrong with pot or booze as long as you are it's master. I will smoke when the opportunity presents itself, but I also know where one toke over the line lies.

I also did other drugs once upon a time, but pot was NOT a gateway drug, neither did I become a mad man as depicted in the movie "Refer Madness". When the news media refers to some whacko bastard that has killed someone or tried to blow some one up, they refer to him as a pot smoker as if that were the cause of his actions, if they find that he did indeed smoke pot.

I wonder how many pot smokers actually managed to stop giggling long enough to commit a violent crime? Perhaps raiding the refrigerator or causing a cookie shortage may become a real problem for society.
We can smoke tobacco that kills us, but watch out for those second hand giggles.

Slacker that's funny. I've seen that for years, most pot smokers want nothing more than a good album to listen to. Pot was not a gateway for me either, I didn't need one. Lots of people I've known never touched it until they had done loads of other drugs for years. Never saw reefer madness, but would like to some day, just for a laugh.

Another you might or might not know about. Don't remember his name now, but the old fellow who played Grandpa on "The Waltons" put some pot in his strawberry tea every evening. Queen Elizabeth supposedly used it for years for headaches and menstrual cramps. Don't know that's fact, but have seen it quoted many times. Bill Clinton smoked it in college, but of course he "didn't inhale"...yeah right..

Pot, Pot, I HATE POT.
When I was 20 I had the worst experience of my life. These three 24,25 year old lovelies took me back to their "beach bungalow" It was pretty hot and nice until they broke a joint. I had 2 hits but didn't inhale. I woke up to a note that asked me to lock up when I left, and it was to bad I missed all the fun.

Beer, nothing as good as an Ice cold beer on a 95 degree day, but too many and you can see why I hate pot. By the way, beer, try not to inhale it can cause much coughing.
Whiskey, ok under the right circumstance, but you can't drink it like a beer.

Nicotine, I have had to many running battles with this one, but maybe the reason I avoided so many other drugs. Youngster told me he was going to quit, the other day.

Told him, cigs are just as bad for you as women. After you pop a few cherries, you know you just can't live with out them. Even after taxes they can cost a lot more. If a smoke doesn't kill you, the woman's husband will.
