A few years ago I found a dead one laying in the street near my house. He looked perfect like nothing was wrong with it, absolutely beautiful. I felt so sad. I took him home and buried him in my yard and gave him back to the Earth. I hope he's happy now.

Sad yet awesome.

Well this little green humming bird scoots right up to my face...eye to eye...from nowhere...He hovered for about 20 seconds and suddenly dropped square onto the cushion of my chair. Its like he just quit and died. So I very gently picked it up and rested it my palm ..very shortly thereafter it starts kicking its little feet , shakes its lil head...looks up at me... and then takes off like nothing ever happened... It was such a happy moment!

Awesome!!!

Slacker G wrote:I hear them all year long, even in my house in the dead of winter. The noise I hear constantly in my ears sounds exactly like they do on a summer night.

One spring night I was standing outside and heard them louder than usual, and it took a minute to realize that they were the ones living in my ears. It was way too early in the year for the real deal.

Nice pics. I find their empty exo's attached to the trees around my house all the time. They're really cool looking creatures. :)

You are not the only one. I hear the "sound" when it is really silent or the room was stuffy.. When I was a teen, the sound would drive me nuts to the point that I slept with the window open even in winter.

Not as bad now but still there. :?

Hummingbirds fortell Joy, so I think he just wanted to give you a healthy dose of it . . . plus he just needed to regroup. Ha ha!

I Have a very special female friend, 5 feet of temper and passion... I call her "Fire Munchkin" . Anyway, she was walking down the side-walk one day, when all these dragon flies swooped in and flew all around her... They stayed with her for quite a few blocks, as she kept walking... Now, I tease her and call her the Dragon Fly whisperer..

That's funny! My friends on fordfestiva.com call me the insect whisperer because of all of my insect pics.

My wife once confused the hummingbird mix with miracle grow. They got as big as pterodactyls.

A plumber pulled one of these. (A massive thing) from under the toilet after moving it when I had a pipe break outside.
Weird looking things for sure.
Great pics!
