Bob Dylan's Stealing of James Damiano's Songs

Few artists can lay claim to the controversy that has surrounded the career of songwriter James Damiano. Twenty-two years ago James Damiano began an odyssey that led him into a legal maelstrom with Bob Dylan that, to this day, fascinates the greatest of intellectual minds.

As the curtain rises on the stage of deceit we learn that CBS used songs and lyrics for international recording artist, Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan’s name is credited to the songs. One of those songs is nominated for a Grammy as best rock song of the year. Ironically the title of that song is Dignity.

Since auditioning for the legendary CBS Record producer John Hammond, Sr., who influenced the careers of music industry icons Billy Holiday, Bob Dylan, Pete Seger, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan, James has engaged in a multimillion dollar copyright infringement law suit with Bob Dylan.

Not sure I see much resemblance in Dylan's work and the works on your page...

But if Dylan ripped you off, then I don't feel so bad anymore, Since I've been ripping 'him' off for years...

Now I hope you don't sue me...

Sorry James, but I know a lot of big named artists who ripped people off, including one who used to invite musicians over to his house to jam and secretly record them. However, suing them and bad-mouthing them has done nothing but pretty much black-balled one in the industry, plus their fans hate you and think you're just trying to cash in on their success.

So my advice to you is to let it go and go about your merry way. You'd capitalize more by saying you've WORKED with Bob Dylan than stating that he stole your music. It's incidents like this that make named artists wary of even working with unknown artists.

If this is true, where are the 100's of other artist and people to back up your story. What are there names? Dylan never worked alone and people from grips to studio owners were always around him.

I say again

Where are all the other people to back you up?

Well i gave about an hour to the site you posted. Kind of messy. I liked some of the R&R music on the clips but i missed the real evidence. But it's still an intriguing story.
Hey anything is possible even Joni Mitchell says he's a fraud or fake.

Hmmmm In my brief stint with Billy Carroll Whiteman and the Countrymen, I met several guys who claimed to have written Johnny Cash's songs.

In LA - I lived in a broken down dump called the Villa Elaine (across from the Ranch Market in Hollywood for you aficianados) I was the very rare white boy - got to know many of the guys there most of whom, like me were starving artists. At least three swore they had written Barry White's songs.

Strange world. Only 12 tones in the chromatic scale. Easy to 'accidently' steal a song. Particularly since we all tend to use similar progressions. It's about HOW we use them ultimately.

My roomate at the Villa was shocked at how little I cared about someone stealing my songs. (his gear was ALWAYS in hock) I told him steal away. It always comes out in the end.
