haven't see that before...but weird!

What's with all the incorrectly spelled words...that's a bad sign.

Make sure the deposit check clears before you commit. This could be a variation on the Nigerian scam--you get a deposit against a larger sum with instructions to return some of it.

On the other hand, it could be legit. Hope it is for you and the band. Good luck.

Absolute scam bro.

We got one with almost identical wording from "Texas", but it is really our "friends" the Nigerian scammers.

Nigerians are the WORST at internet scams. Stay away.

The scam works when you deposit their check or money order. They are not real, but will give the scammers your banking info.

Ok... I know I haven't spoken to EVERY person in the UK .... but .... so far ... I haven't run into many of them ... actually I haven't run into any of them who would say:

I hope to "read" from you soon.

I wouldn't automatically consider that reason to label this message as fake .... but ... I would look further into it for sure before taking it too serious.

I can check it out for you if you like. I am well experienced with Artist Management, Ecommerce, and international bookings.

I could simply contact them on your behalf and see what it is the real deal is.

Its up to you.

Actually BandMix ... i'm not sure of the advice you just offered ... being that your message automatically labels the Advertisement as "FAKE"... when you don't have 100% proof of that.

It "could" be fake ... and likely is ... but to suggest against ever responding to such messages ... is kinda a "one sided" opinion that includes all messages of this sort ... that of some ... could be legit.

Sorry .. but I don't completely agree with your advice.

I do agree however... and suggest as well .... that it must be checked out further ... just in case.

I would advise ... reply to the message ... and check it out... you never know it could be legit even though the signs are pointing to it being fake. Life is built on chances. Just be careful thats all.

This scam artist is the "Nigerian Doctor" of the online music community. Very well known scam. In fact there was two or more threads about it at one time, right here on BandMix.

That scam has been going around for a long time. I got a couple of them from him . . . .
Every month or two he changes a few words here or there.
I'd like to see him locked up . . .

If this is a scam, what would they do?

Send a deposit and then cancell. And then ask for a refund.

After you pay the refund, their check bounces.

I used to be involved in fertilizer trading and we got scams like this all the time. But it ussually involved a lot more money than the deposit for a DJ or a band.

The last few years I play music on the side and I always say show me the money as in cash before I committ to anything.

from somebody in England claiming to want me to do a two week gig there for thousands of dollars. It said in the scam that he thought my music was outstanding and he was looking forward to my first tour of England. I have absolutely no music uploaded anywhere on the internet so how the hell did he know my music was outstanding (which it is)? If you get any e-mails that are in the least bit suspicious hit the delete button IMMEDIATELY. It is simply amazing how anyone could be stupid enough to believe any of the scams that come over the internet. Later...

Bob you're right. Especially this scam, which is as reknowned as the "Nigerian Doctor Letter" now. It drives me nuts when certain elements (and they know who they are) don't even know this and proceed to "give advise" encouraging people to play along with an obvious and well known scam.
