i have this site indieonthemove.com which is really cool but i'im always on the look out for suggestions and
also how to throw like a press kit together

You can use either reverbnation.com and use their digital press kit, or you can get some folders from Staples, include a photo of your band, a bio (preferably one page), any press you've received and a CD. You can buy some sticker paper from Staples and print out 5 x 7 photos of you and your band and stick them on the front, go to Michael's and get some blingy stickers and dress it up. Then you can call the clubs you're interested in playing (around 3:00 p.m. the best time to call clubs and restaurants) and find out if you should come by personally and drop one off or drop one in the mail.

That's just my experience.

I think traditional press kits are going the way of vinyl LPs. Youtube is the new press kit and I need to get on that train too.

Your music is fun. My suggestions:

1. Play everywhere. In front of your house, in front of your friends house, at high school and college lunch breaks, at the park, at the mall. Make sure your shows are fun and learn what works from crowd response.

2. Plaster cars in school parking lots with flyers about upcoming gigs. Get people to come out and see you. Give away some free stuff (beads, glow rings, guitar picks, anything to create a tangible lasting impression).

3. Videotape everything. Especially when large crowds gather around and look interested. Edit your video to 5-6, 3 minute highlight shows in different locations.

4. Post your vids on youtube, your website, and make handout DVDs in small quantities for potential clients.

5. Sell cool T-Shirts with your name on them to help cover gig expenses.

Once you have a regular following and a good song selection that has been crowd tested you have a product that will sell. Now start charging $$ for shows.

the way to go is facebook thats what all the heavy hitters in hollywood are asking for.trust me i would not steer a fellow muscian wrong.

Johnnyz makes good points. But, the traditional press kit isn't going anywhere. Some people prefer them to following links and have said they won't accept them. So, combining Chaeya's and his suggestions are the way to go.

Well yes the press kit is good. Go internet. Also start with local and surrounding bars and clubs. Try to get air time with any and all radio stations. Call your local colleges and ask to be heard on the college radio stations. Need more info or help hit me up on my bandmix.
