Bowie's comment might actually be alluding (un intentionally) to a misguided scholarly assumption about the role of Music in Church. I think he was tongue-in-cheek , using his statement as the metaphor to describe "sinful delight".

Mozart was arguably the first true rocknroller, because of his excursion from church compositions to secular compositions. (He celebrated humanity, where the church merely celebrated GOD) As such, many accused Mozart's work to be the "work of the devil" Bowie probably said what he said to exalt rock n roll.

just my take...

I could be wrong

I Honestly believe Obama really doesn't 'understand' what the hell he did surrounding Israel. Seriously, he's like a homegrown kid, messing with an industrial strength humanity, geo- political issue. WOW! We don't need guys like that to be the most powerful leader in the world... Seriously he's gotta get out

Evil is that gap, which lies between the realty (What I have , sucks) and the subjunctive (What he's got is better...) Every day, people try to make that leap and wind up falling in the gap.
You can apply this definition to every aspect of human condition and you will see that it can be made to fit.

I like your thoughts!
Bowie was well into Thelema and Qabalah early in his career, not a Jimmy Page but he had more than a clue back then.

Now, Beethoven was raised within the Masonic Order, but what Ludwig did was beyond all prior composers. He not only flipped the finger at his 'Keepers' and was monetarily stifled, but he followed his True Path / Will and broke from the Classical regime. I would dare to compare His genius with the genius of our more modern Peter Townshend, in the respect that Beethoven began using huge sweeping, almost, rock anthem strokes.

Beethoven also fit the bill for our early *Promethean character in that he went deaf at the high point of his career and because of his detriment created the greatest music the World has ever heard.

*Prometheus (Greek) is equivalent to the later Lucifer in the respect that He negated God and stole 'Fire' in order for Mankind to survive.

You 'are' implying that if a christian plays music it is Christian music and if a satanist plays it is Satanic music? Or do I not follow you?
Personally, I would label Christian music, any music with the intention of bringing about the feelings of atonement / harmony with the Christian god.

This is the best definition so far... The term "Christian Music" or "Satanic Music" always invokes a system of beliefs...

When we think of "Chair" do we not automatically associate a function and a purpose with our image of a chair? Christan music, ...Its function is derived from Music, its purpose, to bring about the feelings of...

I'd suggest you not base your understanding of what Christianity is about on the clowns who masquerade as pastors on radio and TV. A sort of user's manual for the bare bones of the faith can be found in the Lutheran Small Catechism or in CS Lewis' "Mere Christianity."

As to Christian Rock. I haven't heard that much - and I confess I'm not clear on why some rock would be so categorized. I don't knock it - I just don't get it.

I admit to issues - my wife slams me a lot for some of the songs I write - but they are stories of various types people and events, often told from the perspective of some character who pops into my mind. Real people get into all kinds of crappy situations and I can't ignore that in my music. To me we honor God with our music when we do our very best.

If you want proof that there is an Almighty God, We are all Gods Children- but every time Obama talks to Israel about trading off land or for Israel to go tothe peace tables with people (countries) that want to annihilate them, it makes God angry. Do you think these fires, floods, tornados are a fluke? Go ahead, call me a quack or whatever comforts you. Just watch Obama's mouth and watch the national news. I'm not being prophetic, just profound!

I can't speak For God (Although I have a suspicion he gets angry) . I do know this... The "promised land"...nobody disputes that. The state of Israel has its basis in this. But here's my question. If God, the omnipotent, gets angry at the Arabs for the hatred they cast on the Jews, does God also get worked up about the death-grip of that land by the Jews. ... I mean, what if the disposition of the land is a test for the Jews?
Here's the analogy, If I am the source of endless resource, and I buy you a house, and the neighbors all wanna kill you and take away the house...Yeah I'd be pissed about that...But , did I fail to mention, I am the endless resource...So, why would you hold on so feverishly to a stupid house, knowing the risk of your safety and life? What if you shared the house, or even gave it away? Then you come to me...and by the faith you've held all along (or claim to hold) ...presto... you get another house ...How hard is that coming from A GOD who makes all things possible?

Well Maybe the Jews don't really have that kind of faith (yet). If not, then I's conclude that If GOD gets angry, he's likely to be pissed at everybody...not just the Arabs.

I started this thread that followed by a lot of comments that come from those that seemed that they knew more about what they and others were talking about. Yes, I can understand your shock. To some, it may be the first time they have heard that famine and pestilence would come to those that oppose God's chosen people. That people will witness wrath from the sky as never been seen. In Ohio, where I live, we received more rain in that month in recorded history.Followed by May, more record rains, daily flash flood warnings through out the state. Record cold conditions in the winter. Missouri river at record levels. Parts of the country too much water, others not enough. Record numbers of tornados devastating thousands of all they've had,and record death tolls. Million gallons of oil spilled each day with no end in sight, killing or contaminating the sea that feeds millions of people. How soon we forget when we are not part of the fray and wrath of Hurricane Catrina. I didn't mean to start a sermon. I am not the person that can do that. I asked you to listen to what our leader says in his world policy. Vengeance is Mine , saith the Lord. Ever heard of the oxi-moron Chrislam. Ever heard of Sodom and Gomorrah? Just asking, not debating. Sometimes it is the Christians that get tested the most. Ever read the book of Job? Sometimes it is those without faith that goes unpunished. weather you believe in God or not, we all have the ten commandments, even as a morality issue. When we see all these things, it will be the end of times as we know them. We can overlook the early spring beauty of the cross-like snow white blossoms of the dogwood tree that no longer grows to a size that a man can be hung in the manner Jesus was. There will always be those that have no faith that Jesus died so that we could be forgiven. At least until He comes back to reign at the throne of his kingdom. That's my song, and I'm singing it. Thanks for listening. God Bless you All.
