Crip2nite wrote:LOL..Thanx guys....believe it or not the day after I quit my band, I got an offer from a member of Dokken...yup.. no lie... but, I'm in no way, shape or form to go touring. He's starting a new band and first show is on the other side of the country. I had to turn him down but he told me he'll be back and resides here in August! He's coming back with a certain vocalist and wants me to be lead axe.... so.... I better keep my chops up!

see now...you couldn't accept that gig, if you didn't leave the last one.

I find that the best things in my career happened after I totally gave up. A very wise man once said "a seed of corn has to die in the ground before a plant can come up" (Paraphrasing)

WOW! First beautiful weekend in a long, long time that I didn't either have a gig or a Sat. afternoon rehearsal(hated those as it was always from about 4ish on) Actually took the day to do some intense work on the bike that I normally wouldn't have had time to do as Sunday's are out for family stuff! De-baffled the exhaust on my new chopper (Yikes..took almost 4 hours) and now I'm a member of the "LOUD PIPES SAVES LIVES" club...

Oh...don't kid yourselves, I still practice every freakin' day and make sure I do all the exercises for when the time comes  Will ALWAYS be on top of my game!

I envy you... Never gigged like you did..You are veteran to be sure... This I know though, When we lay the same carpet for years on end, the foreman job starts to look pretty interesting.

What ya need now, is to data dump your knowledge and experience.. Maybe manage or mentor a band for while.. Let's you focus on new dimensions of the biz.. Maybe teach the younguns how its done...etc.. Just a thought. (Its what I did in the App development industry...Started teaching others... Put a whole new shine in my days and actually made me a better programmer.)

Good luck to ya ;)

Dokken kicks butt. You must be burnt if you're turning that down! Enjoy your family. Ride your bike. Clear your head.Sometimes that's hard to do. ther's only one thing that makes me feel like a good night on guitar-that's having a good night on guitar. Good luck and Godspeed!

Professional Lead Guitarist presently available, for serious act ready to gig! It's a very rare occasion that I'm available but I'm definitely a one band guitarist.. Whatever band I'm in, I'll give it my all without the worries of being in any other project! I love the stage and am very comfortable and confident up there...yet humble. No ego as I realize there are millions of awesome guitarists in the world that blow me away! ....But...

I'm a Professional Lead guitarist available for already established band that's playing out or at least somewhere near ready! Been gigging all over the island for quite a while (and the East coast in the past under management) and am looking for some kick ass band in need of a Hard Rock/ Metal lead guitarist. Please no:pop, dance, death, doom, screamo, top 40, etc..

Here's some of the bands I like playing: AIC, Velvet Revolver, AC/DC, Priest, Sabbath, Halen, Ozzy, Zep, Godsmack, Maiden Disturbed, Audioslave, Rage.3 days Grace, Bush, Foo Fighters, , Motorhead, Crue, just to name just a few! ..You get the point... Love to wail and will give on f**k' helluva show!

Would consider a tribute at if it's in the category of one of the bands I just mentioned. Pro Gear and laid back attitude... Don't have my head in the clouds and am a team player. You're getting the real deal...I know my place, I figure out the tunes and am always prepared for the next rehearsal! I definitely give 100% to the band and give quite a show on stage without over shadowing my fellow band mates! Nothing worse then a shredder who's all about "ME"! Have plenty of raw footage of myself live so you can get the jist of my show and audience reaction if that would help in your decision...but...nothing beats an actual rehearsal in person! I value each member of the band and realize that each one is as important as the other in order to make this the perfect venue. I also understand what it takes in the beginning to get ourselves out there so I'm not expecting packed houses or mega bucks but would hope that we're good enough to eventually draw a decent crowd! I could probably make room in my basement if you've got some sort of PA with cabinets for vocals... just gotta re-arrange a few things but it's better than shelling out hard earned $$ just to rehearse. Plenty of places to play if you're not already gigging but remember that we'd just be "one set openers" until word gets out!

I've been in: Spellbound, Felony, Fourplay, PanikAtack, Terror Garden, Decades, Rat Salad, Jerk Fellas Mugsy, PanikAtack II and The Fuse

I've played with some pretty well known artists in the past so just want you to know that I'm not some Long Island schlep just looking to wail.
Available for rehearsals: Thurs early evenings, Friday evenings, Sat. .morning, noon or night or sometimes, if necessary, Sunday late morning, early afternoon!

LOL...No Glen... Taking a hiatus for at least the summer... I've been through this a million times and by the time I get something together that I like, it'll prolly be in the Fall.... I will not lug my equipment to rehearsals or gigs at all this Summer.... just putting feelers out to see who's interested.. I'm very content at the moment on having the weekends finally all to myself. I've gotten a few responses but not anywhere to my liking! I will ALWAYS put myself out there as to keep my own interest piqued in playing... if I don't, then eventually I will lose all interest and sell all my stuff and just be very lazy when it comes to practicing....This time I'm not hanging it up altogether...last time I did, I went over 2 decades without playing.. I will keep posting similar ads all Summer to acquire the right people for when the time comes! Right now, I have no intentions of playing out! (Otherwise, I would've taken up 2 awesome gigs offered to me in the past 2 weeks)

Awesome Kerry! This reminds me of a really hot girl in high school. She gets offer after offer to go to prom. But she keeps turning down the less than great suitors holding out, like you are, for "the one".

You're a hot chick!

Hold out bro!

Ha... What's funny is I have this all explained on my FB page but my recent band didn't see that just as Glen didn't... turns out that they dragged my name through the mud on the band page until all my friends and relatives got right o top of that one and put very negative comments on their page... Got so bad that not only did they retract the nasty posts but had to take the whole page down! Don't assume that just because I'm starting my search now that I'm ready to play out or rehearse tomorrow  I specifically say on FB that Im taking a hiatus until at least the Fall if not, later...all depends on my mind set.... Been doing this cover band sh¡t since 1982!

Crip Im gonna play devils advocate.

Did you just up and quit these guys with gigs on the books? Or did you give them adequate notice and agree to finish out some gigs til they find a replacement?

Not slamming you but when you put bands together a couple of years ago and someone quit on you, you were mad as hell, so put it on the other shoe for a minute.

When you got with these guys you wanted to relieve yourself with the responsibility of running a band, You just wanted to play guitar and wanted to be paid. So you got with these guys and over the last few monthes you were gigging and I assume making some extra money.

So if you just quit, then you did put them in some sort of bind til they find a replacement, did you not?

And then from thier standpoint they look in CL and low and behold there is an add you put up to get into another outfit, that doesnt sound that different than what you were doing, from reading the add that Glen posted.

Mean while they have maybe had to cancel some gigs because you quit, I mean I can kinda understand others being pissed if thats the way it went down. Whenever Ive quit something Ive played out whatever was on the calendar at the time and have offered to keep playing til a replacement is found.

Hey Bro Im in your corner, but if everytime you quit a band it gets this much drama going maybe you need to look in the mirror, you may just be bringing it on your self.

Ive learned in my own deals that what ever I dish out I get back, for every action there is a reaction, just my 2 cents on this.

Maybe I read all this wrong, but for others in bands you might try to be careful how you quit bands, cause in my area the musicians that are actually playing regularly are a small group, and unless you are some monster musician it might not be easy getting other gigs, if you handle quitting wrong.

Enjoy that bike this summer I would love to be riding with you.

Keep Rockin

Ummm,
http://longisland.craigslist.org/muc/2435082014.html

Yep, if you walked out on The Fuse with gigs outstanding and posted this ad right away I can certainly see where those players might feel seriously burned. No excuse for violence but if you want to generate relationships with other musicians in your area, always always leave on good terms. No matter how much other players might annoy you. When you burn bridges behind you, word gets around pretty fast. Soon there will be no bridges left.

Ummm don't have time to read the last couple of posts but #1.Didn't walk out on any gigs.... the last 3 gigs were CRICKETS! Was promised the world so I played tunes I never would've even thought of playing.

#2. Quit when there wasn't anything set up yet and it was 3 days after the last gig that no one showed up to and we didn't even play...just took all out=r sh¡t down and went home. THESE GUYS DON'T DRAW! The only one's coming were mine and my wife's friends! I've had it! I hated the tunes....hated the attendance and after a while hated wasting my precious time on dumb rehearsals and gigs that got us nowhere. I hope that cleared things up! I gave them a chance..I practice my balls off.. I'm a go-getter! Don't go promising me the world because you;ve been together for soo long and not deliver! FUK THAT! :x
