I put this info in another post but you may not recognize the band name. We just completed our first studio demo CD project. Five of the tunes are on my profile (first 5 tunes starting with Ain't No Sun and ending with I's Ready). I appreciate any critique. This was recorded QUICK, basically ONE TAKE with vocals over-dubbed, some mixing afterwards. We're on a strict budget. Hopefully our next studio venture we'll have more time...

Sounds pretty good Bob, although the Black Dog intro doesn't do much for me. It's a fine demo to get work, etc. but next time concentrate on just a couple of songs if you're on a tight budget.

Love the song selection. Wouldn't worry about quality recording yet.
What you are doing is fine at this stage. You are arranging a down and dirty sound
that sounds great except one thing. The lead vocals are not matching the
sound you are creating. The voice is young and clear and immature. It doesn't fit with
the mature music you are making.

To me, you have the total package there except that one ingredient.

Great Job... But I agree that you might want to focus on fewer songs for tighter engineering... (re: Budgets) . My philosophy is that if somebody else is producing and paying your studio time, then release dates are very important and the pressure is on...... but if nobody steps up to help you out on the budget, then there is no deadline to push for (hence no sacrifice of indulging in the work)

All In All Great stuff tho! The Black Dog rendition was a nice twist as well...

We wanted to get in as many tunes as possible to have a better choice at what to market. The key is we practiced these songs a bunch and knew what we wanted to accomplish BEFORE getting to the studio. The studio tech there said a lot of people LEARN the tunes while recording. THAT would be a waste of money. Before I gig or record I would like to think we have everything down cold.

All In All Great stuff tho! The Black Dog rendition was a nice twist as well...
