Any of the line6 combo amps I've played with... My thoughts were they were next to useless.
But I've heard decent things about their tube ampy stack thingy.

Sounds fine on the vids.

I totally agree on their Solid State Combos....even theri SS heads. but this particular head I'm using was actually designed by Bogner (100% tubes) and the sound is really nice....especially when I mic it through the PA.... if anything, I would get an original Bogner tube amp...very expensive but, in my opionion, they blow away Marshall...can't compare it to Mesa's though as I honestly have really never tried one.... I hear Mesa Boogie's kick some serious ass! Again...they also cost an arm and a leg. I will eventually change up my rig but it really is working the clubs I'm presently performing at and as long as the crowd has a smile on their faces and comes up to me after a set telling me they enjoyed my playing, I'll just stick with what I've got.

Here's my dream when I run into some serious cash to throw around: 100 watt Bogner or Mesa head with a Marshall stack and a top-o-the line Custom Gibson Les Paul...

Pedals: Very simple...all Boss(always had a preference for Boss pedals) Flanger, Chorus, Echo/reverb and a wah.. That's all

....but until then....I've got at least one show booked a month if not more and my set-up is working out just fine with the occassional "know-it-all "nay sayers..

Hey Crip, why don't you just bring that line 6 and an ax over, I have an extra cab. I bet that if you put that line6 against my mesa you will be very pleasantly surprised. I know that amp, it's a damn good amp!

I have seen many guitar players on sh*t guitars and amps that sounded great to me. As Santos said its not the equipment, its the player using whatever he or she has to get the tone thats in thier head, and throwing it out there.

Crip

You may have just made my day. "Power soak?" My lead player in a band called Forced Entry lent me a Marshall 100 watt head to use with my SVT cab for Bass. Sounded great but required two corn cob looking thingies sticking out the back. I've racked my brain trying to remember what they were and what they did.

I'd been thinking "condensers" but I don't really know what that means.

I've switched to guitar now but hate it when I can't remember something like that.

And I get some comments about my gear as well - Marshall cab with 200watt Fender Mustang V head. It wails at any volume. But Fender- my my....

Thats funny Mike I still have a Power Soak and a Weber Attenuator, I used these things called yellow jackets that basically allowed me to put EL 84 tubes in a 6L6 or EL 34 socket, but my master volume amps I just learned to use the master volume.

Sorry Crip but I play thru a Mesa Triple Rec half stack, I just turn it to the level I need for the room Im in and dont have to attenuate it at all. Thats one thing I have learned about Mesa's is that you dont have to knock the back wall down to sound good.

But give me a tube screamer and I can make just about any amp sound like I want it too.

Why Sorry? :? I can't wait to try out a Mesa.. heard nothing but awesome reviews on them. Reason I needed a power soak on my Marshalls was because they were the old English original Marshalls...NO MASTER VOLUME! In order to get that nice overdrive without splitting your eardrums, you had to put the volume all the way up to 10 and let the Power Soak do the work.... It sounded awesome But remember, youre using the amp all the time for hours on end at full capacity which meant I went through tubes like there was no tomorrow!....until, I finally met a guy who worked for Marshall here in NY and he installed a Master Volume/gain type thingy.... never sounded the same though! That's what I love about my Line 6 tube head... No matter what volume you're at, the tone stays the same as you programmed it to begin with. Now on the other hand, If you want anywhere near a decent tone on a Solid State head, you can actually get it by programming the highs, mids and bass juuuuuust right as well as the volume... Takes a long time to perfect it and that's why we al hate Solid State... Doesn't give that real tone we all like...but believe it or not, with a lot of experimentation, you actualy can get it! Let me find a vid where I'm using a SS Amp:

Here's one of me playing waaay back in '07.... just picked up the axe less than year before this vid.... the guitar SUCKED! It had the worst "tinny" pickups...it was a LP Studio....real cheap.. and the amp was a Solid State Combo but it took me months to get this type of sound from both the axe and the amp... This was the best sound I could get from "transistors" lol. When I switched over to tubes, it was like night and day!
