Since nobody really answered my OP "Satanic Music: Is there such a thing and if so, how would it relate to actual Satanism?", but rather many went off on a diatribe to either ‘save' me, make a mockery of the thread, or attempt to justify their Beliefs through proselytizing, I would like to answer my own OP.
First off, Satanism comes in the form of several Belief structures and philosophies yet only one of them is related to the Judeo-Christian concept (Theistic Satanism). They do have in common the practice of an Adversarial, rebellious, Promethean, liberating archetype.
What Satanism is NOT, is violent, criminal activity with a satanic mask attached, these are for the most part, delusional individuals committing crimes in the name of an archetypal figure they really no nothing about.
Given this definition, Satanic music is merely music with the intent to promote rebellion and liberation, and most of all it is a Music of Indulgence. This type of Music has existed since the dawn of Intelligent Man.

Sigh...Dawn of intelligent man? I must have missed that one.
Maybe I hang around with too many musicians.

Smoke another one buddy.
Make sure your sitting down though.
Hate for you to hurt yourself.
Still . . . no intelligent comment, just ceaseless diatribes and futile interpretations? Such seems the way of the Music Community these days, perhaps the Muse has redirected Her voice to another artform, that would be a shame

Yeah but do not limit the term satanic exclusively to black metal music, Rock & Roll was considered satanic music for projecting rebellion, anti conformism, Elvis was is an example of that along with Jim Morrison of the Doors Music as we all know music has been used not only for entertainment but as for social commentary, I think the blues was born out of slavery I'm sure slave owners called the Blues satanic.
If we move on to the 60’s and 70’s music became the voice of a rebellious generation an anti government hippy generation which yield some results for their cause here again the underline tone was rebellious many called those protest songs satanic, things got progressively worse during the 80’s with the advent of Rap music with violent at times vulgar anti cops and anti establishment lyrics once again the word satanic was used.
To associate the term satanic to Black metal music Black Sabbath is a good band to start with, when it appeared on the scene as far as I can remember the word devil or Satan began to be associated with that music's genre for the underline dark tone of the music and lyrics to the surprise of the band members whose intend was not to be perceived as satanic but once album sales skyrocketed they ran with it and exploited to the max with suggestive song titles and lyrics while during live shows Ozzy was biting pigeon heads off to reinforce that satanic perception.
It wasn’t long after that when other band came onto the scene like Judas Priest and others who saw the opportunity to make a name for themselves by expanding on a formula proven successful by Black Sabbath.
So if you ask me the definition of satanic in music as it relates to black metal music, I’ll say it’s just a ploy, a marketing tool
The difference that I see between Rock & Roll and Black metal is that Rock& Roll bands and musician were perceived satanic without pushing or selling that perception while black metal goes out of their way to appear satanic and evil.
Sorry for the long post I fell verbose tonight.

First of all, I can't find one of "the fallen" named Satan. But from what I have read, alot of this thought process got started with the fact that Lucifer, the fallen angel that most people regard as "Satan" was in fact the archangel who was God's keeper and performer of music. This is why to this day you will find churches who are totally fundamental believeing that ANY music that is not lifted up directly into praise for God is "Satanic" The way some of the gnostic writings read, music and the means for creating it were actually part of Lucifer's body.
Live for today..... Tomorrow never comes....
Satan? I dunno. I'm not all that keen a believer if you know. I like to think that we have the will to do good or do bad. Kind of like +/- feeding your amp. I try my best to do good. Make others happy. But I do drink too much, swear too much and covet other men's wives. And yes I am apt to fornicate. So the devil may have part of me. But I try

I have books.... You might have some of the same ones. Studying the Gnostic and Apochrapha writings you find that the name "Satan" is a Christian creation that means adversary. They were originally refering to any of the fallen. They are also the ones who coined the term "demon" to refer to these beings. They are the same as any other angels, though there was that little matter of a war.... Anyway, the study of these beings and their history is a hobby of mine.
There seem to be two different beings that Christians of modern times are refering to when they say "Satan". One is Beelzebub who was a prince among the angels before the fall. The other is Lucifer, who is the bringer of light and knowlege, and archangel of music. There are some that believe that Lucifer may have been a transformed man, and a King of Babylon, before he was made into an angel.
But.... to answer your original post a little better.... there is no Satanic music. It is a Christian myth, brought about to explain how God's chosen, to be the archangel of music, could be part of the fall.
