Ive been meaning to get a video recorder for a while and have been looking at a bunch of them.

#1 Collaborator was taking about the little Zoom, but I passed on it and ordered a Sony Bloggie Touch Camera, hopefully it will get here in the next few days so I can record a band practice and our next gig and maybe get some video up.

I will update what I think of it when I get it and use it some.

Hey JW , did you get a chance to use your new camera yet. I can't say I've been real happy with the zoom I got. I can't get the videos to go to DVD . It says the audio wont code or something. Great sound and pics .but you have to upload itto you tube to do anything with them. Anybody got any ideas ?

Yea #1 i got it, recorded a whole practice session, but it wont let you edit it down like I wanted, plus when I tryed to put a little 2 minute deal on FB it never did finish loading.

We did a gig and I forgot and left the damn thing at home.

It does have pretty good audio and video quality when I loaded it to my computor. It didnt distort and we were playing pretty loud at our practice. I just get so much other stuff going on that its hard to take time to learn the damn thing.

The Zoom came with software that lets me trim and even add some effects so thats not a problem there. I like that cause I dont have to dowload the whole card into my computer to edit it. HD video uses a lot of gigs. I look forward to seeing you in action.

I was wondering if it was possible to hook up three or four of those little Zoom cameras at one time and edit the live video later. Could make for a decent low budget vid. I'm thinking a DVD with different cuts from different gigs could make for good merch to sell.

I was going to get one, but I wasn't happy with the reviews. I do have a little Alesis one that I got a great deal on. Poor picture quality, but if you just want to record and see and hear what you sound like it's cool. I'm saving for a worthwhile camera. I miss my old video camera because I could download and edit the videos real easy.

I bought a Canon Vixia HFS 100 and a JVC Everio. Both have really good pics and sound. But I don't have any way to edit them so they sit unused. How great would it be is there were some type of universal standard that would make editing easier? All I want to do is add captions and cut. Nothing included allows that in wide screen or HD format, unless you want to spend $$$ on an editing program. The files on the Canon HD 1080i are monstrous and really tax a computer.

Supposedly the new Stereo Zoom has great sound, and they claim the HD pics are pretty good too. But I'm not about to shell out for another camera.

Actually Slacker, I have a really great Movie Maker Pro (something like that) and I got it on sale at Frys for $29, marked down from like $79 at the time. It does a lot of cool stuff. I'm waiting on getting a better camera so I can go back to making my videos.

Thr Zoom has some editing software installed in the camera and downloaded to my computer, and its real easy to trim and save what I want . It also gives some mastering and effects if you need to add a little reverb or something. The problems I'm having with it is I can't use any of the movie software I have other than the Handyshare ,or just haven't figured out how to make a movie and caption it or burn a DVD. It says the audio wont code or some BS. We used 5 different cameras at a party recently and got a lot of good stuff but the only good audio came from the Zoom camera, The rest was to distorted or muddy and completely unusable. I can't get the computer to code the HD audio and it wont let me use the video outside of the Handyshare software unless I download it to you tube. I dare say its a conspiracy of sorts. Any computer geniuses out there got any help for a stupid plumber?

It's probably saved in it's own format like for instance, .psp is a Paint Shop Pro file. You can google some movie conversion programs to get it in an .avi format, you can then use it with the other movie editing software.

I'm sure the more technically advanced can explain this better than I can.

If it is in the AVHCD format, like my Canon, the format is only a couple of years old. It is just catching on with other video camera manufacturers so there isn't much older software that will allow you to edit it.

And you do need a Pentium "D" or a newer multiple core CPU to handle the HUGE files in that format.

I looked at programs for editing AVHCD and most of them were pretty costly. I tried Adobe Premiere (The chopped down $100 version) but when I read the reviews of their software I chickened out and canceled my order. Out of 79 reviews, over 65 said it was the worst software they ever purchased. It crashed over 90% of the time, according to most owners of the software.

It took me over 60 days to get my money back even though I canceled my order by phone 7 minutes after ordering. They made me spend about 20 minutes on the phone canceling it, then after jumping through a good many hoops, they told me it had been canceled. They assured me the order was canceled. Dealing with those people was a nightmare.

Two weeks later it was delivered to my door. DON'T ever order anything directly from Adobe. They were higher than third party sellers. I saw where guys had been trying to return something and get their money back for over 6 months in the comments section of Adobes site.

By the way, my copy of Adobe Premiere was completely in Spanish, so I couldn't read a word of it. I'd study and write my own program before I ever order one from Adobe. It would be far less of a hassle.
