This was not the open auditions where you sing unaccompanied. This was the top 10 of the locals. When those 2 winners get to Dallas they will sing A Capella.

No I don't see that it's viewed as a joke. Nobody was laughing that I saw. I got some open mouths though.

Thanks for saying it's b.a.

Oh, I see about the music part.

Still, you should've won hands down, I just don't know what the judges were thinking.

The sad reality is that politics all too often trumps talent in competitions... I won't even bother giving the dozen or so examples.

Let that sh*t slide right off Paul.
I don't call you my favorite on here for nothin brudda.
You da man 8)

Will the infamous Simon be at the open audition?
Good luck with it.

I'm sure he won't. There will be thousands of people auditioning for talent scouts.

No, if anyone read my account of my own audition, only a select few will make it through to see Simon.

If you go, for the first day go as early as you can because you want to be seen early on before the auditioners get tired out. I got there at 4:45 a.m., but wish I had just went ahead and lost a night's sleep and got there around 1 a.m. After you get your ticket (which is your placement number), you can get there around 6 a.m. They won't start the audition until they think everyone is packed in there. At least that's what they did in LA.

Stop at 7/11 and get snacks, coffee, water etc., bring something to read.

Paul, you did an excellent job. Your stage presence was only 2nd
to the guy that sang Stevie W. You hit all your notes and sounds.

I think looping is not a commonly known and publicly accepted talent.
It may be that the judges saw your performance as too hardware assisted and reliant to take to a meaningful level representing Norfolk.
Remember your video and that performance were the same and all
they really saw. They dont know your broad talent as we do.

Maybe a heartfelt and touching ballad with attention grabbing vocals
would have shown a side of you they needed to see. I don't know, I
just think by doing the same number the same way put you in a box.

So Klug, how is Paul's performance "too hardware-assisted" vs. someone singing to a record? The reason I'm annoyed is this SW dude clearly was very amateurish in his singing attempt with his over-reliance on his vibrattos and carrying them out to unnecessary infinity. And I find Paul way cuter than that guy. He's owed a free flubber according to my records.

And the quote of the week goes to Sans: "Paint some tits on your coveralls."

Personally I think that these shows are a pretty rotten path to break in to the business but they are certainly one sure path for a select few. Good luck in the open auditions and take Sans advice ;)

It is rotten, but it's a path nonetheless. Here's the thing, if you at least make it on the televised show, people see you, and then you get press. You get press, you get people coming to your show. It doesn't matter if you become an actual contestant or not, every little bit counts.
