I enjoyed working with another lead player at times. A good picker who listens and knows when to shut up or can play something that compliments what the other guitar player is doing can be a real asset and a lot of fun. Harmony, great rhythm chops, twin leads, along with diversity of lead work can add a lot to a band.
But I agree that a group with three musicians that know what they are doing is what I always preferred. Less distention, more pay.
