When I went to school they actually taught the constitution. The second amendment was given so citizens could whittle the government down to size when it became too big and went against the will of the people who elected them. If you remember, we just fought a war where there was taxation without representation. The founders knew that could happen again so we were given the right to bear arms.

They actually taught that once upon a time, but the school system has been re writing history for the liberals for years, so you would not know that.

They know that, why don't you? That is why they want to take away all guns, step at a time.

Again no one wants your daddy's shotgun, but handguns should (and will) only be in the hands of the police. Sure some criminals will be able to get them but that's for the police to deal with.

Jimmy my son shoots competitve trap shooting thru his school, shotguns, but we have been members of a shooting club for years and you would really be suprized how many people shoot pistols. They have ranges and they are ussually busy when I take me sons shotgun down for trap practice, they dont allow guns on campus of course.

I guess I just believe that old saying that when guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns.

Not trying to convince you but I know lots of very law abiding citizens that own handguns and arent criminals at all. I enjoy plinking with a couple of 22 pistols that I own. I dont know why I enjoy it but Ive been shooting guns since I could walk. They have always been a part of my life.

Yeah, I don't put much by this, it will go down as successful as the war on drugs. They've tried this for years, people turning in their guns, all the NRA rallies in the 90s. They've been talking this smack for years, they won't be able to pull it off.

Of course most people who own handguns are law-abiding citizens. The problem is, many handguns are stolen, and once they are underground violent criminals have access to them. My brother owned several handguns, he went out to eat one night and came home to find someone had broken in and stolen them all. Turns out it was a junkie he worked with who sold them, but now they're in the hands of criminals. Another problem with them is that many domestic disputes escalate into bloodshed when a handgun is in the home. Nothing good comes from them; I'm sure you can have just as much fun plinking cans with your rifle.

I agree. Unless you're anticipating a civil war, an invasion of some kind, I don't see the point of having a gun really. (1) most break ins occur when you're not home or at night and unless you sleep with it under your pillow chances are you won't be able to get it in time. (2) people begin to rely on it as the solver of all problems, especially domestic. An online friend is dead now because she decided she wanted to end her marriage and her husband (the really nice guy, well respected by his co-workers and friends) decided to blow her head off in front of their two kids.

I don't allow guns in my house and I like it that way.

Hey Chaeya, I hate to scare you, but the only reason you still have a home is because of responsible gun owners like JW. Now the attack is on you economically, diversion, separate ,divide, and conquer. I know you hate politics so I won't belabor the point that through out history, even the last hundred years, unarmed citizens have always been easy targets for corrupt and evil governments. The list is long.
