So I got invited out to play some tunes with my friend's band last night, and after last week's drunken spectacle I decided to go and redeem myself, if only for myself. I went with a list of suggestions but he wanted to do some blues. The last song he called out was "Red House", done to death but I went along with it. I played very well, and afterwards had people telling me it was the best version of the song they had ever heard. One guy said he was out in the parking lot and heard me jamming and came in just to see who was tearing it up. It helped that I took my own Strat, I hate playing other people's guitars.

Does not surprise me a bit Jimmy.
Your a player, no doubt about it.
I don't play other peoples guitars. My skill level really requires me to have something I'm familiar and comfortable with.
I remember Billy handing me his axe in the parking lot at our meeting. Might as well handed me a broom. LOL Not that it was not a nice axe just so unfamiliar to me. I suppose when I have the kind of time in that you do it won't matter so much ... but I'll be 102 years old .
Rock on !! 8)

I didn't interpret it as pompous at all. I interpretted literally. He got drunk at a previous deal and wanted to make amends. Pretty matter-of-fact post if you ask me...

I try to post the good and the bad about the life of a musician. On our latest release I posted every session here so that people could see how the process goes from raw tracks to masters. I am far from perfect but when I do good I might crow about it, no offense intended.

No offence taken but like yourself with me I am quick to critisize you
when given a chance buddy. By the way I agree with you about your
rasta singer. He is good to watch on stage.

Heck yeah, he should crow about it! Why should that be a critical point? There's a fine line between "hey here's what I did and I think it's pretty cool" and "Look at me, I'm the baddest thing out there, it's all about me, hey did I tell you what I did, when was the last time you thought about me, it me, here!" or better known as Facebook.

Good on you, mate.

I have posted in various incarnations of this Chat forum, had some good laughs with Danger and The Capt' and listened to his songs - I still DIG THE CRAP out of HUFFIN' GAS, its dripping New York Dolls, CBGB's when the Ramones used to go on stage and sweat buckets at insane volumes, Iggy Pop and The Destroyers. Its Rock n' Roll having fun and occasionally bringing the best out in those who generally don't care to get a passing mention. But Jimmy had a great night and just wanted to let ya'll know c'os he was stoked. I think he might have added that it don't happen but once in a great while and we all feel the need to tell it like it is. Wish Jimmy had recorded the live session, c'os gosh darn it and bless my gummy bears, I would have taken a "serious" audio intake time out to absorb the searing six string solo into my grey matter of fact. The drugs are kickin' in for sure!
