I would suggest that you live this next year as if it's going to be the last year of your normal life.

What normal life? That went out the window long ago.

There's no such thing as a normal sex life, it's up to the individual to determine what is normal. Same goes for your car, house, clothes and anything else that is part of your life. Therefore there is no such thing as a normal life, never has been.

So much for the consensus theory of morality. Let's see, that leaves nihilism and illusion, which I guess are good places to go mentally for the recipient of rape. Marquis de sade would be proud ^.^
The more I practice, the more time I wish I had to practice

Well then lets just f**k, kill, and eat whomever or whatever we want & burn the rest and call it a "normal relationship" so we don't offend our food.
Let anarchy rule ... I'm ready.
All you'd have to do is convince me there is no God ... and run for your life.

Religion isn't the only place morality comes from. It comes from tried & tested ways of living that either work in a society or don't.
Nihilism or amorality aren't the only alternatives to living a religious-based life. Nor is the christian way the only truly moral way to live. There are millions & millione of ppl on this planet who live by buddhist or hindi, or, yes, even islamic rules of behavior, many of whom seem way more moral than many christians I see.
And then there are those who are simply good folk, who seem to be good for no real reason whatsoever, who aren't the slightest bit overtly religious.
Come on, ppl. Do you really think that only your god could come up with the 10 commandments? Do you think that perhaps some aboriginal culture couldn't have come up with the same rules to live by? They DID, you know, & many of them lived by those rules far better than the Europeans ever did...or the Jewish folk, as a ppl...or us Americans...& some of them did it even without the promise of everlasting hell if they dared to break the rules or denied their gods.

SMILE - it's the safest way to spread your cheeks!
Phil, you wouldn't be talking about personal responsibility by any chance?

If you only act right because you may anger your invisible sky daddy, you're already pretty messed up.

Actually I would be proud to be a Christian if I wasn't a Christian.
CS Lewis wrote about morality - said that if morality is what you're looking for you can find it with the Norse Gods, Hindus etc - they all have it. Written on their hearts as on hours.
I can understand why some people resent Christianity - my brother, like many, assumed that it was about God doing a test to see if you good deeds outnumbered your bad ones.
Here in the South certain denominations have included things properly called 'adiophoria' (i.e. neither commanded nor forbidden) such as drinking alcohol in their Christianity making it sound like a set of rules where having fun is a sin.
There are only really, two religions. Christianity, which is the belief in Salvation through Christ, and all the others, which in various ways teach that we can save our selves through our own actions.
As Bob Dylan put it in one his tunes, "You got to serve somebody - why not serve the Lord?"
