Ever deal with a bandmate or other associate who may seem nice at first but turns out to be BATSHIT F*CKING CRAZY?

I am sure some of you may think that about me. But, although I admittedly have poor person skills - misreading social cues - I haven't physically threatened anybody or tried to sabotage their life. I haven't gone "Fatal Attraction" on anybody either.

This has recently happened to us again. The last time it happened, I was jacked up and thrown through a living room wall. Now somebody is trying to destroy our band, distributing libelous emails to bandmates and other people on our mailing list. WTF?

Get references and call them! Take any threats seriously and call the police.

Wow! Can't say I've ever dealt with any sort of violent threats or harassment, but I have had conflicts with unreasonable people.

There are too many miscreants taking up music today. They just get into it because they don't know how to do anything, and they feel like claiming to be a musician will make them look cool, important, and special. So, you run the risk of dealing with all kinds of defective types these days.

If I got an e-mail from someone talking smack about the band who's list I'm on, then I'd question their motivation, which means, I'd first think it was someone's ex girlfriend or a angry ex bandmember. I've had people piss me off, but I never went after them, so I question the integrity of a person who would do that.

Mike, you need to recruit somebody sane into your band who's a good musician AND scares the bejesus out of people. Kind of like having a bouncer as a band member. Then the crazies would think twice messing with you. There's one thing that everybody knows instinctively when meeting somebody for the first time-POWER. If somebody is imposing it gets their attention. Short of getting somebody like that in your band I'd ask the meanest SOB friend of yours to come to a few rehearsals. Tell the new guy he is "checking him out." ...no more psycho problems...

Looking back, All of my best friends were Bat **** Crazy. Sorry about my luck? No. But none of those "friends" would have thought about putting their hands on me. I think band mates should be friends first. People that got your back, not want to put you on your back. Sorry about your luck!
