I have my Danaomi Scents booth at the Long Beach Mardi Gras celebration tomorrow so I made up 100 little flyers to give out to people. I'm calling the club tonight to find out how much their rum shots are and I'm making up coins where whoever sells 10 tickets to their friends, bring me the money, I'll exchange the tickets for two coins to buy a shot of rum each. Or whoever sells 10 tickets gets a Danaomi Scents gift card worth $25.

I'm finding all sorts of ways to market.

You will be great, Chay.

Thanks, Mary, Thanks, Shredd,

I'm excited. I pumped it all day in Long Beach, so I think I'll be out there every weekend handing out flyers and talking to people. My costume helps because it gets people's attention.

Hey that is a great room with a lot of history. We played there a few times back in the 70's/ early 80's , before pay 2 play and when it was still Gazarri's On The Strip.

I will be at Auto Club Speedway for a Time Trial that weekend so I will have to miss it. Have fun and take a ton of pics. If you need a pro photographer who has done em all... I know a guy:

That's right! Van Halen played there right before they changed the name to the Key Club. Most bands would kill to get to play at this place.

Thanks, Johnny, I just met a guy this weekend though who does all that and promotion too.

Krul, you don't have to kill to play there, you just have to pay. Ha ha.

I already have money set aside to bribe the sound guy, plus buy him some drinks. I don't want to be screaming my lungs out just to be heard. I'll do it in my best Godfather "now you owe me a favor" voice.

I hate that, I go see bands and I can't hear anyone singing because the darn guitars are too loud, if I'm lucky I'll get to hear the bass.

Your voice, "now you owe me a favor"

You have such a sense of humor. You could have stolen the ratings away from Rowan and Martin, back in the 60s.

Best of hard work paying off Chaeya.

Yeah, I've payed to play. Good thing you got a weekend night, and it's at a reputable place. When I did it, it was on a Wed. night, in the ghetto of East Oakland. I had to pay for half the tickets,, and nearly punch a band member to finally pay me back...haha!

You're going to do great! Can't wait to hear about it!

All right Chaeya, I understand.

Before you move on though, take a few minutes and browse through Mike's portfolio. You will see lots of people you recognize but look for one in particular. A guy in headphones. A very special music guy in headphones. It is not exactly a coincidence that mystery headphone guy and Mike share the same last name:)

Mike is a friend and I would never presume to suggest to him a subject to photograph. I have no idea if he would agree to do a shoot and he is probably pretty expensive, but he is an artist and I think he might find you interesting. You have been working hard lately to break in to the business. If he did the shoot at the Key Club and he got something really special that made it's way into his portfolio, onto a billboard, into a magazine, do you think it might be useful?

I'll gently encourage you send him an email, tell him you heard he was the best of the best, and would he consider doing a shoot with you at the Key Club. What have you got to lose?
