The function is pretty basic. I've seen bands back in the day just use a black dress sock.

Yes that's also another thing I am thinking of getting. I may not be all that great. However, I wish to do it right (or close) lol. Currently the C01U is hand held. Though my hands are a bit shaky .. and leaving it just simply on the desk doesn't work well (not for someone who is 6'3). So my list of things to get were a filter and a stand. Figured any stand would do. Though was not sure on filters.
My list is pretty simple : C01U Mic & Audacity. Though for a beginner figure its just fine.
My overall concern is trying to clean my recorded vocals as best I can. I have tried adjusting various settings in Audacity. Also changing the sensitivity of the mic through the hardware. Yet it still comes out fairly grainy. Maybe you have advice there. Bare in mind my vocals are beginner. I did notice across recordings, even if one is fairly old. The same distortion persists. And the only constant has been that mic (and Audacity, not sure it is the software). One was recorded on a 64 Win 7 (using Audacity), other was a Mac OS 10.4.11 (using Audacity & Garage Band).
P.S. is naturally rough on its own. Don't need to clean it up so much, to eliminate that natural effect. Just past what isn't being generated by my own vocals.
I am but a dream amidst these shadows. The black mass of chattered bugs in my brain is all that I know. To kiss and bleed these demons through my mouth. To less in mind the cage of iron beating and to scurry like a mouse. -Daniel Towsley
