So in the aftermath of our Hawaii tour, our band seems to have left a positive impression in Hawaii.

Some of you might know, the first reggae song I ever wrote is a song called Jah Soldier. It was first played on Hawaiian radio about 8-months ago. Island 98.5 in Oahu aired it in a small reggae segment (The Reggae Cafe) a few times. After coming back to Las Vegas, we've learned that Jah Soldier is now on a regular rotation on that station, and was #4 on their boomtown countdown which is voted on every day by the listeners for that segment which airs during rush hour traffic. I'm just now finding out that it has been in the top 6 quite a few times since we got back. It's hard for me to have ever imagined that my first reggae song would be recognized and received so well. It's a great honor, and I never thought in a million years that would happen.

On a second note, our band has won a Hawaii music award for our album. Another great honor, and we're all very gracious for that as well. We're supposed to go back to Hawaii in April to accept the award.

I know I don't get on here very much these days. That's because I do work hard on our music, and so far things appear to be looking up. Good stuff. 8)

Always good to hear from you brother.

Makes me think back to days not so long ago when you were in the musical doldrums. ( and your truck on blocks LOL )

Gives me hope to see you do well.
I'll be praying for your continued success.

Great News Shredd!

Proud of you man, so are you going to turn Burn into a raggae number?

For those that never heard this song, In my opinion Shredds song Burn is the best song Ive ever heard on this site. And if you compare it to what hes doing now its like a total 180!

Keep On Raggaen Mun!

Shredd, I wouldn't doubt if you've met, or know my ex-guitarist in some way. He lives in Oahu. It's a small world.

Thanks a lot guys. It is a lot of work. Last year we were averaging 10-15 shows a month. This year looks to be the same (*knocks on wood*).

This just got posted on our facebook today:

Shane is an amateur MMA fighter from Hawaii. He's adopted the song title as his AKA and plays it as his introduction song. Now THAT'S really cool!! I was a wrestler myself for 13-years when I was younger. I used to listen to Metallica to get all pumped up for a match. I know exactly what it's like. So I'm extremely honored by this as well. Crazy!!

I hope I don't come across as self centered with this thread. I just couldn't resist sharing this. This is awesome to me.

John, Although I love that song as well. It's a part of my past that I've kind of grown apart from. After being in this band for a while, I'm much happier with what I'm writing and playing now. Seeing this, where an MMA fighter has adopted one of my Reggae songs to represent a part of him kind of gives me a positive feeling that Reggae music can be just as powerful, and Jah Soldier is 100% positive in it's writing. Burn is still on my computer somewhere, maybe I'll re-post it on my page sometime this weekend.

Krul, it's possible. You're right, it is a small world. Do you know what band he plays in?

He's not in a band right now. He just walks to the beach and plays on his acoustic when he's not recording at home...haha! His name is Rich. If you look at my friends list on FB you'll find him, but he's hard to recognize from the distant picture of himself waving on the beach.

Darn it…I’m jealous, just kidding man success stories are rare it’s good to know some do make a mark in music, in your case that mark due to the lasting power of Reggae can go a long way.
