I think you guys are saying the same thing. To each his own. The biggest part of the equation is the musician (80%??), the rest is icing on the cake. I don't use hardly any effects anymore but that's because of the style of music we do.

I guess you haven't really read "Cristofe's" posts:

"I find it amusing that someone wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt would so totally dismiss fx"

What the fuk does my clothes have to do with my opinion on effects? I also wear AC/DC shirt and hate their ever livin' guts!

"If I had to rely on the built in digital effects in my Line 6, (or worse), modeling amp I probably wouldn't care for them much either. Don't LIKE effects? I don't much care for cheezy digital modeling amps."

Hmmmm... I've been relying on it for the last 5 years and it's been faithfully bringing in the cash and building up my fan base

"If one chooses to be close minded and not take advantage of that fact it's their loss."

Loss?? Geez... it's actually been nothing but a monetary gain for me as well as notoriety in my area..like I said before, .The whole idea is to share our differences of opinions without being a total sh¡thead!

I'm explaining MY PREFERENCE I'm not going to personally attack anyone and if you don't fukkin' like my "dislikes" thats your fukkin' problem! I can see why you're taking this to heart as I see by your vids that you choose to use tons of effects.. I'm not going to knock the way you look or sound as I'm a better person than that... Im' glad I don't have all that to worry or think about. I use pre-sets
with reverb or chorus and all different combinations of BG vocals.
I can adjust genders and have up to 8 voices singing with me.
One thing we all have in common is if you hit a bad note, everyone
hears it thats listening.[/b]

A lot of different takes on this thread LOL

Crip you know i love your playing! Oddly I dont use chorus on Plush, now the recording i have on my player here I did double the guitar. Didnt change the amp, but I have a les paul on one side and a strat on the other to get that chorusy sound.

Theres a lot to be said for not using effects also. I went to a blues jam last week and noone used anything more than a distortion pedal here and there and it just killed.

When I practice I hardly ever use effects. In fact most of my practice I just play the guitar unplugged. LOL

I think there is something to be said about whatever approach works for you is the correct thing to do.

Now that is VERY interesting.. That's a cool idea with the double guitars! But...believe it or not, the whole song is chorus.... here's our band doing it(lousy vid but you get the point)

(Such a freakin' boooring song to play but the crowd actually likes it) :?

Crip in the 90s I was using two amps on Plush I would turn the detune on the Whammy Pedal, you can line a dry signal out to one amp and then a wet signal to another, with the pedal you can vary the intensity of the chorus.

You know I may use less effects live than you do, LOL

Hows the new band going? By the way

Pretty busy.... starting to get a few 'benefit" requests for the Spring which I'm not too fond of because the band gets nada while the club rakes it in on the drinks! I don't mind once in a while but 2 former band mates own bars now and they let me in on their little secret...Benefits for certain causes pack the place and the door money goes for the cause while it turns out that it's the best money maker for the club! :x That's disgusting! Why can't the club chip in a share of their take?

Effects are rad. I have 9 in my chain right now.

Wah- tuner- clean booster- distortion- Synth wah- phaser- tremolo- flanger- delay

Things have been different since we've been touring. I'm using a SS Roland JC-50 for it's size, reliability, and sound. I started using a distortion pedal mainly because sometimes venues want to back-line. Most reggae bands use Fender twin reverbs. No distortion to be found on them. After playing a couple gigs doing clean solos, I decided to start bringing my own distortion for the solos. If I can back-line off someone elses amp, that's one less amp to pull out of the truck, and less setup time for both parties. So be it. All I need is a clean channel.

I didn't even bring an amp to Hawaii. Just my guitar, wah, distortion, and delay. All amps were back-lined. Even played one gig through a Fender acoustic amp. Got me by just fine.

I concur. Sometimes, just a wall of feedbacking noise through some effects will do the trick! Sometimes going bone dry will be more appropriate. Context is everything.

Thats cool Shredd with your gig man, Im jealous going to Hawaii to play, man you suck dude!

I still listen to your song Burn, in fact my band has some CDs that we paly at gigs and Ive got it on there and people always ask about it, who is it, where are they. that sort of thing.

Ive had it for what 2 years since you sent it to me and it still sounds good and fresh to me.

I forgot to mention that i also use a POD PRO preamp with the pedal. I can plug that baby straight in a board and do gigs. I just dont have a whammy in it, which I do love to use. I do like using it as a volume pedal, great for swells and fade ins and out of solos.

Keep Rockin Shredd, good to hear from you, Keep On Rockin, or should I say Raggain Mun! Some of the videos of your guys are awesome makes me want to get up and dance.
