Aw geez, I'm torn here...As our classic rock band is almost ready to roll into the local bar scene, we've just added Bad Company's "Rock and Roll Fantasy" and although I've come up with an acceptable guitar part that will work okay, I sure wish I had a pedal to do the lower octaves for that intro, and middle guitar break so it would sound more like the record. The one that catches my ear is the Boss OC-3. Anybody out there using a stand alone stomper for (lower) octaves that gets the thumbs up?

Hi Dajax! You should invest in that pedal. I use a rack mount but I use that effect frequently. The other effect I use is the Harmonizer that alows me to double 5ths and 7ths.

It's only my currently worrisome finances, and the fact that it would only be used on one tune that are stopping me from running out and buying one. Hey, maybe if I can get us to do Neil Young's "Hey Hey, My My" that would double the tunes it could be used on right there! (I understand Neil used a Mu-Tron Octave Divider for that tune)

You only go around one freaking time.

And you cannot take it with you.

Not advocating irresponsibility ... but if I wanted it ... I'd pawn a gun or something long enough to get what I need to get the job done.

Just saying.

Have the bass player do the riff with you although that effect is cool one and can be used even in songs that does not require it.

I bought a Boss delay box for another Bad Company's tune "Live for the music" never been able to use it live, it was impossible to match the tempo with the drums.

That is the plan for the moment, to have the bass double the lick for the intro, and for the middle riff I can just do octaves on the E and D strings while the bass chunks away on the low E root

Sorry Glen, but you're on my ignore list because you never talk about music, and you get abusive when this fact is pointed out to you.

Ok what do you get when you drop a piano down a mine shaft?

Sorry Dajax, I don't use any pedals to copy some one else's material. If I can't put on a good enough show with just a good guitar and a good amp then maybe I suck... I DON"T THINK SO.

Why the hell do you want to spend so much time pretending to be some one else?

Thanks anyway. Glen.

Ab MINOR.

Glen

I feel the same way about cover bands BUT - since my last go round the quality of the players doing that has gone way up and they are doing it well. Even better - many of 'em are getting paid.

I just don't want to do it. I'm humble enough to realize that the only tunes I'm going to really shine on are my own. Mustaine and Hendrix et al already own their niches.

Dajax I use a Whammy II Pedal, its great for all sorts of stuff, lower octaves, higher octaves, I use it a lot for 5th harmonys on my lead lines, Cant Get Enough is one that it sounds great on

I have an old Arion Octave Pedal, it will do one or two octaves down, its an old plastic pedal but it does the job

But my vote is a Whammy cause it can do so many things.
