wegman .... just out of curiosity ... what would your services cost? Meaning ... If I had an artist or two that was a new starter talent without a band ... what would you charge for providing some instrumental to their voice tracks?

If they are good people and there is the potential for me to make a name for myself.......no charge.

I checked out your tune. I really like it. May I ask your permission to put a melody on top of it?

Well, on the one hand I wouldn't particularly mind, as long as it's all in fun and not intended to be released for profit, but on the other hand, it's intended to be just a one acoustic instrumental, the song is the melody...never thought it needed anything else, just a very simple, one guitar instrumental. When I considered putting together some sort of lead for it, I finally decided it would detract from the song and make it too cluttered, so I left it as is. And by the way, it's done in open G. And the hardest part was figuring out a name for it..

I'm glad you like it, I posted a thread a while back looking for some comments and criticism, got one response, so I'm glad to get a little feedback. People I play it for live tend to like it, but I haven't had a chance to try it onstage yet and see how it goes in a live public performance setting.

I am the patron saint of overplaying/cluttering.

I heard the tune and a melody jumped right out at me. I grabbed my guitar and started playing along.

There is not alot of stuff I hear that moves me, so take that as a major compliment.

Well, thanks for the compliment, I've gotten some good comments on that song just about every time I've played it for people, so I guess I Came up with a fairly decent one. I have a couple others, also acoustic to record, the first 3 attempts at one of them have all resulted in one or two glaring mistakes, but I'll be trying again soon, and might post one of those, or possibly a jam track just for fun.

It'll be a hassle for me since I'm on dialup, but it might be interesting to see what happens with a basic rhythym track if anybody and everybody on here can lay a different part on top of it then post it back..

MixCraft is also a good freebee....

I AM WONDERING IF THIS AWSOME PROGRAMING AND TRACK SYSTEM ONLY WORKS IF ONE HAS MIDI?

I don't have midi but looking for a program like this to put together my first C.D,. with out all the cost involved.

Wondering if there is still a way to use this program or another perhaps if this is only compatable with a midi?

Midi is not needed.

I tried the tortourial and it wasn't enough help.
Any suggestions on how to get it to start recording my voice?

Sure.

Basically once the software is loaded on the computer, insert a microphone into the microphone jack on your computers sound card. YOu may have to enable the mic port via windows sound. Once that is done, open the software, hit the record button and sing away.

What recording software are you using?

Perhaps that is the difficulty standing in the way of record button working .

I recently down loaded a mic recording program called
step voice recorder. I use that when i am recording to a file.
I shouldn't need to use that for this program.

I just have a cheap mic I got at a store not sure what brand it is?
It's not really a software. Hmm thinking perhaps you mean whats on my hard drive on the sound card? I think i have windows xp.
Not sure the sound card brand. I am not sure if I have answered your question correctly. The thing about computers is I do great! Once someone teaches me how it works. I can even figure some programs out myself as long as they are streight forward programs. It's when there are multi steps thats aren't easy to find I get stuck... like now..LOL

Hoping I can pull this program off as it is an amazing program!

You need to know what you have. Right now you have only a vague idea of what you're using.
Not good.
It's up to you to do an inventory.
Computers and software are very exactingly specific.
Get into Windows and ask for a list of what you have installed. The information is there, in your computer.
It'll tell you . . .
Look for it.
And - see if you can find this information all by yourself, ok?
I'm not being mean. You need to know more about what you're doing, and this is a very important first step.

if you want a good recording software and interface go with the alpha lexicon interface for 100 bucks and it comes with cubase software for free. Thats what im using and i love it, its really all u need and a great deal.
