Even though I'm 3 times his age and then some we find we are on the same wavelength. Tonight we learned five brand new originals. Within a few minutes of each tune we had this incredible groove. Kind of scaring me actually. What happens a year from now? I'd say if you're hitting a wall try finding others to collaborate with. Sometimes one plus one equals infinity. Sometimes just by yourself you equal zero. I know the feeling.

So true Bob. Many times I have just given some loose lyrical content to the boys on a rehearsal night and in an hour or so we have the basic song all worked out.
I understand why your so excited about the chemistry.
It really is a magical thing.

On the flip side I can hook up my guitar and get my tone set and I can come up with cool riffs all day long. I dont really consider a riff a song thou, when I write these days I want to write lyrics that have some emotional connection to my life in some ways. Maybe someone says a little phrase that catches my fancy or soemthing is going on in my life, hell maybe I jsut feel like killing someone and just need to vent that in some way.

To me its not a real song til their is some real emotion behind the lyrics, this can be happy, sad, mad and all points in between.

Ive learned that I get inspiration at the wierdest times, one fo the neatest things Ive found to do is just use my cell phone recorder to record ideas the moment they hit, might be driving down the road, might be while Im taking a crap. For me I have never been able to force it, have to let it come to me.
