I had a blast and the feedback was very positive and I walked away with a good chunk of change  Let's just say that we've definitely got ourselves quite a few more jobs at this new club! Now to prepare for next Saturdays show at another club..

I dunno.... They've been around for about 8 years which is great cause they've got an awesome following and command a set salary at each an every gig... Prolly got it online somewhere. It feels good to know I'll never get less than 100 bux in my pocket...and that's on a bad night!

A hundred bucks should be the minimum hard working musicians should earn for a 4 set show. Bar owners don't take into account the time we start loading equipment to the time we get home later that night. As far as I'm concerned I'm on the clock when I start loading for a gig...

Bob, This is the first band, since I picked up the guitar again, I've been in that gets a set salary and then more if the place does well! Every single place my other bands have played have always been for the door minus the sound mans fee!

Back in the 80's, we were under management and evey single gig was a set salary gig minus 15% for the management. What was good about that was in order for them to make money, they've got to keep you busy which was awesome as we were playing every Friday and Sat. nights as well as sometimes in the middle of the week even though we all had our day jobs. At that age, we could handle it... I honestly don't think I could handle gigging and then going to work in a few hours at this point of my life anymore!

Where? How? Did you go about finding a manager?

Probably a booking agent/agency. You have to have one unless you plan on spending several hours a day on the phone and online doing bookings.
Even locally it's the way to go... unless your willing and able to spend the time doing it yourself and keep the 15%.

My keyboardist found him...there were only 2 booking agents here that had a monopoly on the clubs on Long Island... One of them was strictly (at the time) disco and top 40.... the other was hard rock and metal.... we sent them a press kit.. and they tested the waters having us open up for a bigger band, they came down to check out the audience reaction and we signed with them in the back room that evening... Very simple...You can't book with anyone else for a year and they get 15% of the take.... They set up sooo many cool gigs and actually had us do a mini-tour with Zebra and Southside Johnny... as well as a ton of college gigs (big $$) and all the Long Island rock clubs! Those were the best times of my life! (and actually the most drugged out times of my life..lol)

the Yellow Pages is a good start. Also search online, but back it up with a live person to person phone call and a little investigating. You'll need to send them a press kit.

Next you need to make a Youtube vid that gets hundreds of thousands of views. Just gotta think of some gimmick...
