I hear ya, simple is good. Looks like you already have 3 gain stages on your pedal board so channels are probably overkill. Good luck in your search.

Here's the amp I used and the stage it was used on... it's the little gold one behind me.

A Fender Bronco. Needless to say they looked at me a lil funny when the roadie sat it down and said "is that your amp?: 8)

After the show an audience member said -
"man when I saw you hook "an acoustic" up to that little bitty amp, and then heard distortion through it, I didn't know what to think or expect. I was amazed at the results"
I remember when I used 2 massive amps on bass. No mo o that!

When I was younger I thought bigger was the way it was supposed to be. The first time I played live as a guitarist, I brought a full stack to play a bar. The soundman looked at me curiously and said "do you really need all of that"? I just shrugged at him as he proceeded to mic one speaker from the bottom cab.

Now I have a full stack sitting in my apartment that I will probably only ever use half of. It's the result of the impression sponsored musicians have on young players.

You mean you don't have one of these?

I've never had an interest in getting heavy cabinets I have to stack up on top of each other. As long as it is on wheels and does the job it's cool. I may end up using 8x10's & 2x15's eventually, money and physics prohibiting. Lean 'em back like a handtruck and roll 'em around. You only really need the cabinets nowadays to get some air moving, so everyone can "feel" the music. Plus, it looks good. There's no logical reason to not just D.I. the amps, maybe with some Palmer speaker simulators or just a Line 6 Pod.

Are the Hartke the regular aluminum cone speakers or the hy-drives? Been wanting to check those out.

Heres my main live amps

The combo is a 100 watt Mesa Roadster, if you want a mini stack this is the machine, it weighs as much as a Mack Truck but having a sealed back it gets that thunk that only a 4x12 will deliver

The stack I just od that for looks I use The Triple Rec head into the Mesa 4x12 bottom cab, thats what I leave int he equipment trailer and the roadster is my home practice amp.

These amps are baddass and can be loud as hell, but they have this master function to where you route your channels back thru the effects loop and can actually attenuate your volume down to a whisper and still get good tone and sustian, without running the termites out of the wall

Once again volume doesnt mean good tone, its just volume

On top is the Weber Attentuator that I used to use, I dont use it anymore, cause it does take away from your tone, plus the farther you attenuate the more noise you get, particularly on real gainy settings

Mike all I know is they are the good ones

I know they had two lines of speakers but Andy has the good ones in his rig, I had a little 200 watter that had the cheaper ones and I put an EV in it a few years ago

Our bassist has been using the HArtke head and cabs for years, he sounds great but it really comes from his fingers

These days he ussually just brings the head and 4x10, its really overkill in the clubs we play in
