N-2 Submission (featuring The Impaler) at The Record Collector 1997

Believe it or not, it was SUPPOSED to sound like that. :lol:

The Impaler gained some notoriety playing with Detroit noise group Princess Dragon-Mom. So, I tried pulling him back to his roots a bit with simple rhythmic bursts while the other guitarist went wild.

N-2 Submission, backing band for The Impaler, never rehearsed and seldom had the same lineup from one show to the next. We just showed up at the gig and improvised every time.

Mark St. Christopher, the other guitarist, talked me into putting black goop on my face for "theatrics." It sucks and I only did it once. Mark could play. But, he had diarrhea of the guitar, just nonstop solos...sometimes one long solo through the whole set, even between songs. He could make the guitar talk, but couldn't make it shut up! :lol:

BIONICS were a primitive noise-techno & low-budget surrealist duo comprised of Mike Nobody & John Nevermind. We met through mutual friends and acquaintances Princess Dragon-Mom & Mog Stunt Team who thought we should hook up together. Although gaining favorable comparisons to groups like Suicide and Cabaret Voltaire, with plenty of positive feedback and requests to play more shows, we had difficulty getting gigs in clubs that didn't know what to do with us. So, we called it quits after performing and recording during most of 1996.

I'd like one, I have quite a collection of local bands. We're playing at Simon's on Feb.18 and Mar.5, bring one if you come out.

You should think about recording something at Pete's. He's very reasonable.

bionics moving target front and back by Mike Damn Nobody, on Flickr

Hey, I was scanning some covers and found a spare Bionics tape! OK, that's available if anyone wants it. Same prices as before; $4 bucks for one tape, $6 bucks for two, and I guess $8 bucks for three.

:oops:

It just seemed like a good idea to keep some of this info on the same thread. A little self-promotion couldn't hurt either. Is that a problem?

EQUIPMENT LIST

Basses, Guitars, Drums, Keyboards, Sampler, Noise Machines, Tapes, etc.

My equipment wish-list is very long. We don't have enough of the right gear to perform "exactly" as I would want. But, we have plenty enough gear to perform gigs. We're kinda doing the "econo" version of NegativeM+ while we add to our gear and upgrade. But, we've got enough to get started and let it evolve as we go along. Hopefully, anyone we play with will dig what we're doing and have some patience with it.

Some of Mike & Marsha's assets:
I had to reconstitute my arsenal of music gear, after liquidating most of our possessions a few years ago - trying to avoid homelessness (again). We’ve both lived in our cars. Not an experience I want to repeat.

My main guitar, a Les Paul copy, is laying in pieces while being customized. I modified the Jimmy Page Les Paul schematic to include four push/pull pots, a six-way toggle switch, and exchangeable pickups with solderless connectors. I’ve got about a half dozen different sets of pickups. I may change the wiring again.

Backup guitar is an Ibanez RX 60. I forget what model my acoustic is.

I’ve got a bunch of pedals (Boss , Electro-Harmonix, DOD, Digitech, etc.). But, alas, no fuzzes. I hope to rectify that.

Two basses; a Beatle Bass copy and a Guild Pilot.

Line 6 Variax guitar and Pod XTs for guitar & bass.

A mixed brand of drums acquired from the Salvation Army for $50 (but nowhere to practice! Damn!)

SWR Workingman’s Bass Combo Amp

Tascam 4-track Cassette Portastudio missing a power supply (oops!)

Roland VS-1680 Digital Studio Workstation I still haven’t figured out how to operate

Four PCs, Cubase, and some other programs

Assorted keyboards and a big pile of electronic toys and junk to circuit-bend and build noise machines with.

Marsha has two big keyboards which cost more than everything else we own combined (Korg M3 and Yamaha MOTIF XS7).

A BC Rich Mockingbird

An ovation 12 string acoustic

Marshall DSL2000 Combo Amp

Marshall “pocket amp” which runs on a 9-volt battery

2 x Roland SIP-300 Guitar Preamps

Sansamp Bass Preamp

Some Cheapo shite microphones I need to upgrade.

2 x Late 60’s Shure PA cabinets. Working on getting a matching powered mixer.

I've got a guy holding a Sunn Beta Lead amp for me when I've got enough to pay him. It should be another month or two until I get it from him.

2 x Film Projection Screens

My vehicle is a 1986 Chrysler Caravelle, no muffler, broken driver door, no insurance. It hates the freeway.

I might be able to talk some relatives into letting us use their garages to practice. But, I'd prefer not to, if avoidable.

Of course you always want what you don’t have. I haven’t replaced any of the equipment we used to have, except an Ensoniq keyboard like Marsha used to have when we met. But, the battery needs replacing. It keeps needing the operating system re-installed. Hey it was free! I can’t complain too much.

John's equipment is:

* Synthesizer/keyboard $30.00 (very basic) with stand
* Microphones (2, neither one 'pro')
* Small amp good enough for a tiny coffee shop or someone's little basement but that's about it.
* Miscellaneous adapters, extension cords and cables that I've acquired over time
* Power saw (VERY loud!)
* Blender (small, electric) loaded with pennies
* 3 different pedals that work w/ varying degrees of success.
* Sledgehammer
* Chainsaw (it works but the chain is not hooked up properly and must be done so by someone who knows how to do so before it can be used)
* Static producing dollar store radios (2 or 3)
* Sound Forge computer program.
* A mask and suit
* A pair of fake 'guitars
* Keyboard (small) that is basically beyond use/repair
* Some dollar store toys
* Mannequin head as well as part of the body
* Plastic 'body parts' (Halloween style arm, hand and foot)
* Various photos of sheep (Sheep puns are a recurring theme in my videos along w/ the destruction and fire breathing)
* Hundreds of photos along w/ some video of various vacant buildings of all sorts in my area.

Devin's equipment is:

* Squire Telecaster
* Crate 2x12 combo amp
* Boss DD7 delay
* MXR distortion pedal
* A pretty simple 8 track digital recorder that has seen better days.
* A modified casio
* Miniature wind organ
* A set of concert bells/concert xylophone
* Random percussion like maracas, tambourines, etc.
"I also used to be really into circuit bending toys as instruments but I haven't worked on it in a couple years, but still have all of the wires/switches/soldering tools."

We are currently gathering donated televisions, VCRs and VHS tapes for part of our show if anyone is discarding them. They don't need to be in perfect condition, but must be functional. :wink:
