IF he gets executed. Executions are going out of style. Instead, we opt to torture them with a life-sentence of no hope in a hostile environment, paid for by the victim's tax-dollars.

Gross, isn't it?

We can't legally execute a crazy person...or even try them in a court of law.

Yeah Scratchy - I don't give a f*ck about anybody but politicians. You gotta problem with that? I can't help myself. They're an obsession with me. My concern for them takes precedence over everything, even explaining myself to the likes of you...

Nav - his thought processes look like a acid-laced spider's web, where none of the silken threads touch each other, but the spider thinks it's a perfectly logical construct. Yeah - there's definitely something wrong there.

sans - while I cannot hold Palin or Beck or Limbaugh, or any of those pundits out there, personably responsible for the harm done by crazy ppl, I cannot help but think that the current state of mind in this country is, to a large degree, deeply affected by the warped messages they bring to us on a daily basis. More than once have I heard words like "target" used, on describing someone whose mere presence offends the pundit, & it makes me wonder what the f*ck is wrong with their thinking processes, as they continue to gleefully stir the pot of our discontent, trying to rile us to some sort of physical action. Then, of course, when it works, they sit there looking all wide-eyed & innocent, like a 3 year old saying "Did I do that?" if they bother to talk about it at all. I just wish someone with some f*cking sense would take these assholes off the air, & replace them with ppl & messages of substance instead of vitriolic, spiteful hatred. I'm tired of the sour-graped spoilsports out there. How can a society hope to make any forward progress with all of that sh*t floating in the pool?

Cant stir a pot of discontent without discontent.
And no pundits created the discontent.

Plenty of opportunity for the other viewpoint to be on the air.
Why aren't they there?
Cuz they don't have anything to say besides delusional hippy bullshit.
The left is it's own worst enemy. Learn how to band together and stand up for what you believe in instead of just bellowing about how all of this evil industrialist retoric and the like is on the air and destroying us.

The other side has no message of substance either. X5

Oh, I think pundits create PLENTY of discontent. It's all in the delivery, Zip.

Btw, other viewpoints ARE on the air, however, they are more often overlooked by ppl surfing for sensation rather than content, which is about all we sell in the country, anymore, especially in our "news" programs.

The liberals aren't pasting cross-hairs on the foreheads of their opponents, Zip. Don't you find that act just a little disturbing? It sickens me. It's one thing to promote gun ownership (which I am most definitely FOR, btw), but quite another altogether to use it as an excuse to encourage sickos to use that right to eradicate ppl with whom you would disagree, even if you're using it as a "metaphor."

I don't know if this nut job even saw the Palin sh*t. What she did was wrong on so many levels!

Yeah, no one has any solutions, & no one has anything positive to offer. I hear that all the time, but it ain't necessarily true, Zip. You just gotta look for it by wading through the cess-pool we call "news."

Come on Phil.
This the time to say prayers, this is not what our country is about.
Discontent, many people are upset with the lies that have taken this country in the wrong direction. This is so sad, please don't start passing the blame. That is why we vote. Tell that to all the sides.

Just in case you thought it was only the left making political hay:

"1 down, 534 to go!"

Yes, alright.

OTOH, the mother of the nine-year old who was killed is asking that people see this as a reason to drop the hate-filled rhetoric of recent political conversations. I'm with her.

So obviously "voting" is no longer a solution!

Some guy named Cory (last name unknown to me) blogged the following:

Many people will use this terrible tragedy as an excuse to put through a political agenda other than my own. This tawdry abuse of human suffering for political gain sickens me to the core of my being. Those people who have different political views from me ought to be ashamed of themselves for thinking of cheap partisan point-scoring at a time like this. In any case, what this tragedy really shows us is that, so far from putting into practice political views other than my own, it is precisely my political agenda which ought to be advanced.

Not only are my political views vindicated by this terrible tragedy, but also the status of my profession. Furthermore, it is only in the context of a national and international tragedy like this that we are reminded of the very special status of my hobby, and its particular claim to legislative protection. My religious and spiritual views also have much to teach us about the appropriate reaction to these truly terrible events.

Countries which I like seem to never suffer such tragedies, while countries which, for one reason or another, I dislike, suffer them all the time. The one common factor which seems to explain this has to do with my political views, and it suggests that my political views should be implemented as a matter of urgency, even though they are, as a matter of fact, not implemented in the countries which I like.

Of course the World Trade Center attacks are a uniquely tragic event, and it is vital that we never lose sight of the human tragedy involved. But we must also not lose sight of the fact that I am right on every significant moral and political issue, and everybody ought to agree with me. Please, I ask you as fellow human beings, vote for the political party which I support, and ask your legislators to support policies endorsed by me, as a matter of urgency.

"The massacre in Tucson is, in a sense, irrelevant to the important point. Whatever drove Jared Lee Loughner, America's political frequencies are full of violent static."— George Packer, in the New Yorker.

This is in my back yard. I got to hear the debates and the hate from the liberals in Tucson. The way they assassinated the character of anyone opposed to them. They not only went after the people opposed to them, but thier families as well. Dragging them into the press and protesting on private property at their houses terrorizing thier children in thier homes.

This is done regularly.

So I am hard pressed to feel sympathy for Giffords. She was at least doing her job, in the community and I can giver her that much.

I say all this so you can understand that the environment of vitriol around the politics in Arizona is fomented on both sides, not just Conservative pundits.

That being said, there is no excuse for this kind of violence. There were many lives torn asunder in this violence. Ended and impacted forever. This is what happens when idiots take free debate beyond the realm of speech and act. The people who do this need to take direct responisbility for thier actions. They made the choice to go out and commit violence. Everyone else makes the choice every day to NOT go out and commit violence. Myself included. All of you here. Despite our differences, we can at least agree that this was the wrong way to handle discontent.

Everything else is just so much bullshit.

reasons stop mattering when the blood flows.
What one man, or group, says or is allowed to say should have no consideration.
Actions are the key. This idiot took action on delusional, violent thoughts and should be put down. End of story. No I have to watch my back in certain neighborhoods or hide any vestige of my political opinions. You see, one idiot sparks action from other idiots who are just waiting on something to give them an excuse. This happened here several times. Now it has escalated.

So again, I implore everyone here to take a breath and see the simple truth that the actions of one idiot should not incite further idiocy.

Yeah. Quote something from the New Yorker. No political liberal viewpoints there. Personally I have heard more personal poison spewed from the mouths of liberal politicians than I have republicans. But none of that matters. You are all political pawns doing your fathers bidding. "O" and the Dems have turned rich against poor, black against white, working against non working, union against non union, right against left.
How about some of the poison that comes out of his mouth, or do you only hear what you want to hear from those you wish to attack? You haven't heard any of the venomous crap from "O", Reed, Queen Nancy,or Barny ?? How convenient is that?? Their radical spews were on the air almost daily, over "the peoples networks" of course.

We are all pawns. A nation divided can not stand. And that is exactly what they are attempting. The only difference is how much you buy into their games. Somebody went off the deep end and shot someone. BIG FRIGGIN DEAL. Just exactly how many teenagers are murdered every day in America? And a lot of them die innocently. If everyone raised such a big deal about every one of them there wouldn't be space enough on the Internet to hold it all. Is it OK because those murdered are Mexican or Black rather than white female? It is a senseless act, no greater or smaller than any other senseless act of that sort going on every day in every city in America.

Only the others don't get politicized for the benefit of those who wish to find every excuse to legislate away every freedom you have. First we will get rid of their freedom of speech, then yours. So don't even buy into that bull crap unless you want your own personal freedom to go away with it. Keep your head on your shoulders and wise up to their political ploys.

Oh man a few of you have been drinking some strong cool aid. There are no liberal wack Democrats or Republican right wing nut jobs. It's the same face on the same body. Wake up. divisiveness is a tool. A means to an end. If they can foment hate and distrust the game is over. While you sit there wanting to send Mexicans back to Mexico, Blacks to Africa, Gays to hell, unions....welfare....Blah , Blah,Blah... they are raping America. Wake up!
This shooting was a tragedy. Committed by a very disturbed young man. But it is really just the face in the mirror...we have become the hate. Do you really worry about terrorists? Why? We will rip ourselves apart long before any terrorist ever does.

I guess I'm just left angry tonight myself. Not because this young man killed six people. Because everyone want's to say it's because of Obama and liberals or Republicans and their hate rhetoric (Gun sights) and no one wants to do anything to make this country better. I read this site in general and it all seems to be wank! So what your next gig? Working on a new album? Or are you just sitting around posting crap with your dick in your hand? Go out and write a song. Maybe about this incident or something else powerful in your life.
