Sorry to be chiming in here, but adoption isn't the saccarine-sweet solution that many ppl say it is. To know one's child is out there, alive, yet never to be seen, for some, is worse than the after-effects of abortion, & not you or anyone else can predict how anything will affect anyone with absolute certainty.
Abortion is not simply "post-coital contraception," for everyone. For some, it's a very real, very therapeutic solution to rape or incest. For others, it's a relief in stopping an abnormal fetus from becoming born. For others, yes, it's an escape, but there are none of us who can determine how it will affect any particular woman, any more than we can say it is a right or wrong thing to do.
I've known women who were deeply affected by their choice, & others who seemed whole, hale, hearty & healthy, in spite of making that decision in the past, for one reason or another. It is NOT the choice of society, &, though it pains me to say it, it is NOT a man's decision to make. There isn't a damned one of us of the male persuasion that can possibly understand the process of giving birth from a woman's view, or her decision to carry full term or not. It most certainly, then, is NOT a topic for us to sit on our high horses & decide that "this is good" or "this is bad."
We, each of us, must have the freedom to determine what occurs within our own bodies, of those things which lie within our personal control. To tell anyone that she must do this or that with her own flesh is a form of societal slavery that I cannot condone.
