There is no 'right to expression'.
I could punch someone in the face as part of my expression.
Wait... pursuit of happiness... would punching a face fall under that?

Look, the flag symbolizes a collective ideal of freedom and independance.
It has also taken on the property of symbolizing the blood spilled in defense of that freedom and independance.
It isn't a religion, but to be forbidden from flying it is not a good thing.
Burning it, whiping yout butt with it, and anything else that denegrates or show disrespect to what it has come to stand for... just isn't a good thing.
Can you do it? Yep.
Should you do it? Nope.

Is there any respect out there anymore besides respect for ones self?

I guess you've never heard about the Arbitrary Nature of Meaning.
What one thing means to YOU doesn't mean the same thing to EVERYONE.
A good example is the Confederate flag. To many, it is the equivalent of a German swastika. To others it represents something else entirely.

Like me, for example. It was my high school's flag.

I thought this was interesting;

"Establishment of State Flag Desecration Laws (1897-1932):

In the years immediately following the Civil War, many felt that the trademark value of the American flag was threatened on at least two fronts: by many white Southerners' preference for the Confederate flag, and by business' tendency to use the American flag as a standard advertising logo. To respond to this perceived threat, 48 states passed laws banning flag desecration."

The majority of the meaning in this country is what I said it was.
Getting less and less so, but I think it's still the prevailing 'meaning'.

The confederate flag represents the Duke of Hazard to me. Yay!

Collective wisdom beats arbitrary nature of meaning 42 - 7

I call that 'main-stream boob-tube education' which hardly passes for wisdom.

The Village Idiot wrote:Oh, and Mike, I actually think your pretty right on. But dude don't friggin scare me with the clown makeup thing. That's just damn creepy. I mean holy carps that kind of sh*t can get you killed in some towns. I went to birthday party for a one year old in Dallas, drunk, and god knows what 6 adult intoxicated people are doing going to a one year old's B-day I don't know, hell it was a strange obligation. But when we finally composed ourselves enough to ring the door bell and go in......oh my god...Tharpo the child molesting clown was at the door. I would of laughed but I was so creeped out that I watched the Dallas Cowboys and ate cheese dooodles in silence. No more clowns please!

Why is that about clowns? They're supposed to be funny, entertain kids, etc. But, they are universally creepy. I never met a kid that actually LIKED any, either.

You know Mike my friend, that's a very good question, Why were six drunk ass morons at a kids party...well it's a long and complicated story. You see I have my Dallas Posse Mike, and they are what you call ....Wild.I don't mean wild like eating extra hot sauce...I mean you take five days off work after a dinner party with this crowd. Hot, Hot women, laughter until you have a gut muscle calling for a cab and uh...Rob said we had to go or the couple, who I barely know, would be forever offended. I think I have a photo of the Dallas crew posted on Bandfart.

Why WERE 6 intoxicated adults at a one year old's party?

WOW this group has gotten real small and twisted since,, whenever. I can't believe some of the posts leading off into all sorts of anti American attacks.
You guys really let RG have it,,, YET!

Most of you continue to miss the most basic point that RG was trying to make.

With FREEDOM comes tremendous personal responsibility. That includes school districts. This was not about our American flag but about a school district enforcing the will of the few, without any regards to the responsibility of the freedom granted to them from the local tax paying community.

When personal responsibility can not be counted on to maintain society, then laws must be enacted. Freedoms must be lost to protect those laws, and your rights must be surrendered to the powers in control.

George Washington understood the tremendous responsibility of freedom. You do not have the right to menace someone with a gun, or pull the trigger. Then the question posed is simple. At what point does someone with freedom pull the trigger?

Most of you have already given yourselves over as law abiding citizens that will do any thing the powers that are ,say you should.Good luck.
Some of you really scare me, because you traded your mommies in for governmental laws. Mike , I just wanted to say HI!

Dewy wrote:I got that idea from the crowd you've joined, true freedom loving American patriots who want to abolish taxes, modify the Constitution to ban gay marriage (and of course abide by it AFTER its modified) and object to gays in the military.

That IS the crowd your speaking for, so I just assumed you were part of that mob.

Also shooting someone in the ass is a cowardly tactic... you had the gun ready, you owned the situation... why shoot him in the back?

Oh come on now.
How many times did Granny Clampet dust someones britches with rock salt from her shotgun??
It's fun!

As an aside, I vote BassBastards post the most cohesive and intelligent thus far.
