Look, the flag symbolizes a collective ideal of freedom and independance.
It has also taken on the property of symbolizing the blood spilled in defense of that freedom and independance.
It isn't a religion, but to be forbidden from flying it is not a good thing.
Burning it, whiping yout butt with it, and anything else that denegrates or show disrespect to what it has come to stand for... just isn't a good thing.
Can you do it? Yep.
Should you do it? Nope.

I guess you've never heard about the Arbitrary Nature of Meaning.
What one thing means to YOU doesn't mean the same thing to EVERYONE.
A good example is the Confederate flag. To many, it is the equivalent of a German swastika. To others it represents something else entirely.
