I've played at the Jokers MC Club in Detroit a few times. Good dudes, for the most part. Just don't touch their bike or their woman! In high school I hung around with the greasers most of the time, the freaks sometimes and the jocks never.

In high school I WAS the freaks. Too square for the "cool" people, too weird for the squares. I kept mostly to myself in school. I hung around with old bikers some of the time, who turned me on to Frank Zappa and some other music. Offered me some acid at parties. But, I was always skeptical about chemicals mixed in somebody's basement. Maybe I should've taken 'em up on it.

What do they call the social groups in school now? I know that after freaks they called them burnouts. Are there even greasers anymore? You know, the guys that hang out at the car wash on Friday night rubbing their cars, listening to Montrose and drinking 40oz out of a bag? And are jocks still jocks?

A lot of things are the same Jimmy. I talk to my nephew all the time about school. Jocks are still jocks. There still are preps too. Metalhead is used instead of stoner.

The newest phrase I heard were emos. Apparently some claim to e emo. It's kind of like the new version of a mod...sorta. Well, you know what emo is I'm sure.

From what I can tell, emo kids are the new "new-wavers." Too comfortable and pussified for punk. But, they still want to fit in with it. Shopping at Hot Topic is their definition of being hardcore, I guess. The more things change the more they stay the same.
