I've been hanging around this forum almost since it started although I mostly lurk since it's such a snake pit. Today was the first time I ever hit the new posts link and found flaming arguments in every single new thread. Bandmix has officially hit a new low LOL.

Actually this site comes in handy, when people start whining about the moderators at the forums I run stifling their god given right to be assholes. I just send em over here to see what a forum with no oversite whatsoever is like.

I wonder what it is about internet forums that makes people who are probably pretty great people in the real world check all their social skills at the door. 8)

My own theory is that it's a combination of hubris mixed with the safeness of anonymity. But it's not all bad. There are lots of issues here which have been seminal to some great discussions and passing on a bit of knowledge. A few flamewars now and again are not that big a deal. They come and go with the territory. The trick is not to characterize an entire forum (this one or any other) based on one facet of the normalities of any online community.

No it's not all that bad, heh heh it's kinda the reason I keep checking the forum. It's pretty entertaining but I've also seen a lot of pretty cool people get sick of it and leave. The other thing is that this is a corporate forum representing a business and those are usually the most strict. I would find it kind of funny that the corporation doesn't really mind that many many threads are saying how much it sucks, except I don't even think anybody from bandmix even looks in here. It's too bad because a healthy forum could help them.

Edit: I wonder why this forum resets my post count to 0 every week or so.

lmao .... see what I mean .... agruements are good advertising tools ... it brings Kooling back whereas he may otherwise get bored and take off on us completely......

Too funny.

There is no such thing as negative publicity .... just negative reaction to that publicity.... which is a tool in itself.

Wb Koolin.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that BandMix isn't watching ... but ... maybe pat them on the back for not throwing out the people who are helping to keep the forum boards active.

Firstmost .... every site owner knows that sooner or later ..... someone is going to insult the site... but ... if the site owner is smart ... he'll like that .... for it encourages feedback from other members.... and as a result ... busier boards.

You have to look at the real troublemakers .... people who come here once in a blue moon ... and start an agruement almost every time.

You could label me as one of those troublemakers ... as I create some negative attention here with some of my posts ... but ... i'm here all the time... and I post alot.... and.... not all of my post create negative attention... some of it is actually helpful.. and reasonable.

Either way .... I help encourage people to post.. some to tell me to shutup .. some to say i'm weird .... and others who may in some way agree with me. Whatever the reason.... my negativity ... or others on this site... can't be looked at as a reason to call an entire site .... a snake pit.

Heh heh, just call me Kool. That's the name I use in most of the forums I belong to, it was already taken here though. The "in82" refers back to 1982 when I was a slim, reasonably attractive young rocker, none of which I am now.

I'll still be around no matter what happens here. I'm so out of touch with todays music scene though that I don't have a lot to offer other than an occasional smart ass comment.

Koolin82, you said,
". . . a lot of pretty cool people get sick of it and leave."
.
Yeah, I've seen it repeatedly, too.
People come here to talk music and such, and then hear a lot of bickering and personal attacks instead, and: pffffhh!
Gone . . .
