It's statin to burn me up how people come here and want to
conect with other musicians to make music but give no
example of themselves. They say they can play this and that
but no music is on their profile. They want you to leave the site
and listen somewhere else.

I'm here, I dont want to go there.

Well, short of being able to post original material, I at least HAD some examples of influences posted for folks to listen to UNTIL a certain needledick narc'd on me to the Bandmixeralies.

I admit that I, too, am rather tough on those without music on their pages, but I also must admit to having nothing new to offer in quite a while.

The last new thing I've offered was last summer when I did that African guy's gig (which was kinda interesting, even I hafta admit)...

My recording equipment died years ago, &, though my drummer has a fine set up, I haven't been to his studio to work...mostly cuzza scheduling prob's.

I find myself kinda backing off the attack on this situation, as the economic troubles we all face are really hitting me hard in these parts.

Yeah, it burns me when ya got NUTHIN to offer to prove you play anything, but I can also understand it, in some cases, esp in the case of the newbie, who doesn't have the library of stuff that many of us have to draw from.

Better than nuttin'. Especially if some of the references are a little obscure.

I had one band hand me the shittiest demo EVER. I would never use something like it as a representation of my work. I'd rather have nothing at all if I couldn't show something worth showing.

Right now I'm reevaluating everything to see what I can do with just what I've got. I have to scale some stuff back and just drop some other stuff altogether. It doesn't help matters that my keyboardist / guitarist has had an injured hand for the past few weeks, with it now in a brace.

Except those in there early 20s and teens. I think most others
should have had some recording of some type to post.
In this day and age even a half ass video of play should be had by all.

Apparently, you've never been homeless.

Wrong, I have been homeless and I solved that problem.
I just did what I had to do. Then I made sure that didn't
happen again.

Then you know how material possessions disappear and how hard it is to climb up after you've fallen, starting from scratch. Compound that with mental illness and physical disabilities. I'm doing pretty good just to get this far.

I don't know what other musicians' situation is and, unless I intend to play with them, don't really care what they do or don't have on their profile.

I will not give excuses for myself.
Yours are obviously in your way.
I suggest you climb up, go around, dig under, jump , fly,
barrel through whatever it takes to move forward.
You, are probably your biggest barrier.
Just guessing.

That WAS my problem.

Yes. Often am. I'm trying to dig myself out. Slowly, but somewhat successfully, between mood swings.

People who buy into that Ayn Rand / Horatio Alger bullshit should be hung up by their bootstraps. :x

You might want to try it just once.
Those boots might keep your feet nice
and warm in this cold world.

One of my husband's clients was homeless when he started recording with us. He would find bikes and fix them up then resell them as well as detail cars, he lived in a truck on a tow lot and at night provided security for them in exchange for a place to stay. He would hustle all kinds of ways then spend most of his money on recording. We cut him a lot of deals. He's living in someone's garage right now. He has something like 6 CDs worth of music now.

There's also a homeless musician down in Laguna Beach who busks on the street. He records his music on his laptop and burns CDs to sell of his music. A group of homeless musicians got together a few years ago and recorded a CD.

There's no excuse not to have a demo.
