Most people don't like metal, and I acknowledge that, but that doesn't mean they can go around saying it sucks. That's ignorant and oblivious, cause look at all the great musicians that have come from metal music. And more brutal metal drummers are very, very trained musicians, everything from blast beats kept in time to poly rhythms - this stuff is not something your average mainstream stupid pop band can do. Metal musicians may give off a negative image, but that doesn't men they're bad people, for example Shannon Lucas, the drummer (formerly with All That Remains) from The Black Dahlia Murder is a really nice guy, even though the band he's currently in isn't the nicest band around. And metal guitar players are usually really good, with everything from sweeps and taps to scales, it really isn't all that easy. As for vocals, sure they scream, growl and squeal, but look at the lyrics SOME of them are vocalizing, SOME really aren't that bad.

People never take these things into accountability when they bash metal bands, they just hate on it cause it's not "their type of music."

You could be right, but DAM! that is a lot of people and a lot of music that hate. Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me? I don't like red apples with worms. :D

Oh good grief! Here we go again!

Ya know, I've come to the conclusion that metal-lovers are the biggest whiners we have ever had in these forums, for as long as I've been here!

"Why does everyone always bash metal music all the time? Waa waa waa WHY!"

Cuz, for the most part, most ppl can't stand it. It isn't musical, more often than not. The growlers in modern metal have REALLY built up our disgust with the entire genre. The speedy licks & the double kicks got old in the 80's, in case you haven't noticed, & THAT is why ppl moved away from metal in the 90's.

If you wanna be stuck there, that's all fine & good, but don't whine about how ppl bash it for it's general bashability. You're SUPPOSED to be all angry & powerful & mean & sh*t - NOT A WHINING, SNIVELLING, "WHY DOES EVERYBODY PICK ON ME" kinda person all the time.

Get over it. Play what you wanna. Listen to what you wanna. Accept that other ppl really hate the stuff. That makes you unique, if not a person with good taste in music, at the very least, CELEBRATE your difference, & STFU already!

We have ppl here that bash country, bash rap, bash punk, bash reggae, bash emo & religious & just about any type of music you wanna mention. We are equal opportunity bashers in here. I, for one, DO have a strong dislike for metal, ESPECIALLY the stuff I've been hearing for the last 10-20 years. I will continue to do so, until it becomes more listenable to me.

Got it? Now quitcher bitchin', grow a set, & get on with your bad self!

Oh, & one more thing - it's a free country, bub. Yes, I CAN go around saying it sucks!

Phil, you might regret what you're saying, check out the link to his screaming. Real talent!

There it is! Haha!

I hate what they called Metal today. It's mutated into garbage. sh*t like Suicide Silence, Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying(sorry Tim) just get on my nerves.

What's worse is this attempt at a Thrash resurgence. And it's in my backyard! The Bay Area mostly. It sounds like a generic version of the 80's bands. No originality. Tight pants and white basketball shoes. And an attempt to make shitty audio recordings to sound like they lacked the money for a proper recording. None of it sounds original.

So here you have it, a big time Metal fan bitching about Metal. How ya like that?

There's good music outside of Metal, don't ya know? It's good that you listen to all kinds of music, influences build on style.

If I don't like it because "it's not my thing" ... I reserve the right to say it sucks irrelevant of the genre'.

After all, it is just one persons opinion.

Take it or leave it.

Just like any other type of music, there are bands I liked and a whole lot I dont. BUT! Like it or not, Metal has been in resurgence; with a touch of punk. Most of the money guys I talk to will not invest (record) in Metal projects. BUT! I have to go with (always did) what I see. The under 25 is getting warm to it, now that they got their fill of rap and rock/rap and DJ rock bands. Although they don't want noise and undecipherable lyrics, the new Metal sound will fit their lifestyles, beliefs and general mental states. I can't wait to fire up my amp.

There's a lot of great Metal today, I just think the older bands are doing it better. I hope I'm proven wrong soon.

The newest band I'm into is Mastodon. I feel weird calling them new, cause they're most likely around my age.

I'm trying to be one of the "newer" Metal acts.

Quo Vadis is pretty good, but I'm not sold on the vocals.

Machine Head is nowhere near new, but the product they've put out recently is polished and fantastic

and austrian death machine is a ton of fun

My man, Que Vadis started in the late 80's and released their first album in 1990. You're old school Metal and don't even know it.

I was reading somewhere that kids today prefer the older music to whatever is "new" these days. It doesn't surprise me. A lot of bands from the 60's-70's are busier and more popular than ever.

I am a metal head, in a heavy band... and I can not stand the whining! Good metal with good musicians will get respect. See Opeth, Mastodon, Baroness, Meshugga...
Crap metal that appeals to tone deaf idiots will always have a niche, that whines. Alot.
Hell, I still bust out my old Black Flag, Misfits and Circle Jerks cd's and tapes. That does not make them musical virtuosoes or even deserving respect. That means i like violent and fun punk from my childhood.

Check out my band for good heavy tunes. I am in a new band that is even heavier. We are all classically trained with backgrounds in various genres but love the heavy stuff. We know not everyone will like it.

but since we have balls, we don't care.

- edit... apparently I can't spell

Now see? THAT's the attitude I expect from a metal-head!

Ya may be a bastid, BessBastard, but I respect you, even if I don't appreciate the same music as you.
