You can be a christian artist and not have to be involved in an all inspired christian membered group. So,if that be the case with Bono then I don't see the humor but if you just threw that in cause you thought it was funny then haha............

Look pal, I AM A CHRISTIAN, don't get all holy roller on me. You'd be looking down the business end of the barrel.

Better pick your targets carefully or you may live to regret it.

I may be a Christian, but one thing I despise is people that lean on it.

Are you familiar with the Dead Sea Scrolls? How about Qumran-Sadducean theory? Codex Vaticanus?

(licking my lips) I eagerly await your retort.

PS: Bono is a Christian, if you understand his lyrics it is as plain as the light of day.

First let me apologize if it sounded like I was coming off holier than thou cause I'm a far cry from being that..I was just commenting that a christian artist can be involved with seculiar music and bands.
I was inquiring of Bono as you were LOL after your post so I thought you were having fun.I was interested in knowing that Bono was a christian artist and lastly I'm not knowledagable of the topics you mention.

I don't care if Bono is Christian, Hindu or Druid....he's a good guy who has turned his clout into a positive force to aid more than one humanitarian cause. I wish there were more like him, so called Christians or not.

Agreed, but the point was that he was surprised that he was a Christian.

I laughed as Bono is very popular and yet he is a Christian. Most people are uncomfortable with this fact and I have no idea why.

I wouldn't care if Jimi Hendrix was Hindu, the man could play.

The premise of religious music, with the exception of a few things is very weird. Either music is good or it is not, religion has no bearing on content and that's an opinion.

only 4 or 5 posts for the thread to turn sour..

anywhoo..

Petra rocks fer sure..
I saw them live back in like, 2000 or something..
They were totally awesome.
John's voice was so strong.

However, by far IONAhas had a profound influence.

Depends on what you mean by "religious" thar, Cap'n. If you mean "organized religion" I would agree with you. If you mean "spiritual", then I certainly don't. There are different forms of spiritual music around the globe that are truly amazing and moving. Have you seen traditional Hindi musicfrom India? It is a form of ritual. The Raggas themselves, I am told, are divinely inspired.

Don't you ever wonder why a band has to be anything but what they are?

AS in I think it is a bit of a cop out by saying that you are a "Christian Band".

U2 for instance, says nothing publicly. I admire that. They are popular and play well, regardless of their beliefs. They want to be musicians first and foremost. I think that is the most admirable mind set.

(not trying to be provocative)
