Yes it's not easy doing booking under those conditions. Make sure you have everyone's calendar, preferably in your Blackberry or whatever, and that once people say they are available for a certain date they are held to it. If you only play once a or twice a month you should be able manage it.

OK...finally got myself into a professional project which includes: Set salary gigs, No opening acts, Already established band with a VERY healthy following and they play out at least twice a month! They are only in this project which will make life a helluva lot easier as far as booking and I'm guaranteed not to walk out with less an $100.00 in my pocket! No more worrying about playing for the door!!

Thanx guys... as I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm more of a Halen/Satriani/Yngwie,etc... type player but even though their songs are more "pop" mainstream, I've already figured out over 30 of their set list in about a month and I NEED the extra $$ due to my present job cut so what better way to make extra cash on the side than to do it through music! The local clubs love these guys and they have a lock-in in quite a few places so I'm gonna have fun doing this one!

Well, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Steve Stevens, and Carlos Santana all played for Michael Jackson. 8)

lol....and....they are giving me a "no holds barred" on a few tunes where they purposely want the leads extended due to the fact they HAVE to do at least 3 sets so till I learn about 60 tunes... Nothing like doing an Yngwie lead in a "Maroon 5" tune!

Bro, your plate is packed! And what you have to learn is just crazy. The pressure is really a positive pressure though.

Kill em! 8)

Happy New Year, Phil.. What's funny is I've been doing live gigs for years but Im actually nervous about this one because they already have a healthy following and I've gotta "one-up" their old guitarist! I guess after this gig, I'll be fine but believe it or not..I freakin' nervous like it's my 1st gig

Well, it's cool that you got to use the new Les Paul 8) .

But, I just don't understand the appeal of cover bands. Even when I played in cover bands I hated it. But, they make all the money at gigs nowadays. Go figure. :?

Maybe I should try to pass us off as a "cover band" that only does Mike Nobody covers  . "Hi, we're NegativeM+, the first Mike Nobody Tribute Band!"
