Can't remember. But I do remember the old man who gave me $20 at an open mic bar after I played "Long Black Veil" back in 1985. I triggered an emotion, and that's why I play.

$2,500.00 for eight hours must have gotten exhausting. But I gotta admit, the money would be a great motivator to do a good show.

Yeah man !

But you know it does not take much of a drive + load up + load out + play
to = an 8 hour day++.

Before I got off into all this I had no idea.

People on the outside think it's just all fun and games.

Once on the inside you realize even if it is all having fun it's a heck of a lot of WORK.

Yeah, you're right. People don't have a clue what it takes to play a show. Not only do you have to deal with loading in all the equipment, you have to deal with the soundman and the owner rushing you on and off stage with all that stuff...usually without any place to store that equipment during the show, except for the vehicle you drove it in.

Many times, the band had to take turns watching the stuff in an open space flatbed while it was raining...just so we could get that one bill to pay for gas.

Which has me thinking:why do some places demand that you load in at 2:30 to play a show that starts at 9:00?

:lol: :cry: :shock: Fery funny, very sad, and very true. I love what that promoter said: Thank you, my site is a well constructed farce". Haha!

For some reason, those videos remind of when I took over vocals and guitar. The soundman would never let me use my own mic. Call me a priss, but I hate the smell of all that dried, stale spit. How many people did I kiss when I used their mics?
