You asked where do i get influences from?

What ever riff and lead I think sounds good,I try to play 40 to 54 riffs per tune. I 've written over 100 original songs.Soon I'll upload to my web site and then here on my profile 3 songs fer each 3 of my solo projects.

check out my site freewebs.com/masterschambre

When I write a song, sometimes I'm just experimenting with new chords.
. . . chords I don't hear in any music.
And I try using different preceeding chords, and different following chords. The chord before and after will change eevrything.
When I find something interesting, I'll experiment with different rhythms.
.
If it starts sounding crummy, I'll take a different musical direction.
Different chords, or I'll go to 7ths or 9ths or what-not . . .
. . . whatever the song asks for . . .
. . . but . . .
If it starts sounding like ANYTHING I've ever heard before, then I'll take a different musical direction . . .
.
Ok, so that's how one can compose without being influenced by others . . .

That sounds cool Alan, I see what you mean by not letting yourself be influenced by other artist. Although it only took a paragraph to answer, I just needed to stand in your shoe's to see it. (I know you must be a little annoyed for my rant & rave, But I only had good intentions). I just like alot of everything when it comes to different style's, Artist, etc. I think if I were writing original material myself, I would have to pursue at least two different style's of music. Only, (IF)? mind you, 'Alternative/Modern Rock'/ -/ 'Modern/Classic Country'. Keep it original RythmMan!....Peace.

Oh, hey, V & B; no problem. It was a fair question, and it deserved an answer. I'm certainly not annoyed; I can see you were actually interested.
Blame it on the internet.
:)
And besides - we're both good guys, eh? :)
:)
ANYway . . .trying to be completely original can be pretty hard at times.
It's real easy to be 'original,' and wind-up with "halloween-music."
.
What I've been trying to do is come up with new styles which are actually fun to listen to.
THAT's the kicker . . .
Being creative, alone, is not good enough . . .
.
I've got over 14 hours of song-ideas recorded, which I've never heard.
When I'm stuck for an appropriate original-sounding chorus or bridge, I'll often find my answer in these recordings.
Or, sometimes something brand-new pops into my head, and I record it on the spot.
.
It's supremely important for me to record every new melody or rhythm or set of chords that pops into my head, and right away. . .
I've found that if I don't do it right away - it's gone forever . . .
6pm or 3am, it doesn't matter. I'll get out of bed to record a song that pops into my head.
It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.
:)
peace.
