what the..

what website r u readin doode

Basically, that people rationalize almost ANY behavior using the bible as justification. It is a collection of ancient Jewish folktale books, edited together by a Catholic committee, then translated and re-translated by numerous people, which often contradict each other.

Generally speaking, the New Testament God is kinda nice until that happy Book of Revelations ending. The old Testament God is a petty jealous prick. Maybe having a son made him lighten up a little for awhile.

I would have added this with the other audio files. But, the forum acted funny when I tried to make an edit.

" let he who believeth in me enter unto the kingdom of heaven"

I believe... Even if you think the bible is a crock of sh¡t and all the gospels, etc... There's waay too much documentation on The Lord for it all to be a fairy tale.. I'm no saint but I do believe in the basic teachings of Christ.... a lot of it was metaphors so the modern skeptics bash the "literal" meanings of the scripture... I don't go to church but I do "talk" to God (the Holy Spirit, Jesus, The Supreme Being, or whatever the loving entity is) every day and ask for forgiveness and to help me through the day and through any negative obstacles , pain and anxiety that I endure on an every day basis. It is my only hope...my only salvation... gets me throught the fukkin' day! How sad and scary it must be to think that this is it...once you die, you're gone.. Not gonna preach but have witnessed first hand that there is an afterlife..accidentally. Long story... just be a good person...try not to harm others and be able to forgive yourself when you stumble.. Know that there is something waiting for you... If you don't believe but are basically a good person, don't worry...you're in for the ride of your life!

Actually the sad and scary part was thinking that all this is just an entrance exam, a test, by some omnipotent omniscient creator who either doesn't care or is impotent to prevent pain and suffering. Once you realize that "this is it," that the universe "just IS," it takes a lot of pressure and negative emotions off of you.

A counterpoint would be how sad and scary it must be to always seek the approval of an all-powerful invisible father figure who shows no signs of loving anyone but himself.

Like I said...to each his own... Personally, I'd be scared sh¡tless if I thought this was it!... So... If Im wrong, at least I can take solace in the belief that there is a possible continuation of existence till the day I'm dead as opposed to thinking that this crappy life on earth is "IT"! Whatever gets one through the day... I love the thought of a completely different plain of existence... What a trip! People have tried to change my belief in a continuation, only to solidify my belief... Like I said before, I've witnessed something that made me stronger and cemented my stance! and...no.. I didn't die and come back to life.... I actually witnessed my father trying to contact me the minute he died.... I didn't know he was dead yet.... got the phone call many hours later... I lived with him between marriages and there's no explanation but him contacting me while I thought he was still alive... only to find out he was dead during what I thought was just a normal occurrence between me and him that day... He was laying in his room DEAD as I was interacting with him from another room and hadn't a clue I was conversing with a dead man! Also had my brother come to me numerous times at 4:03 AM (time of death) for over a year... It got so that I finally found out his exact time of death by acquiring his death certificate... had no knowledge of the exact time of his death... So, my point is, even if you don't believe there is andy God... I DO believe in an afterlfe... you'll see

I've argued and discussed this issue to death. The basis for all religion is crazy to me, and any answer other than we are all stuck here without so much as a clue as to why we're here is completely false to me. And I'm sick of all the crazy ideas being legislated in the "Name of God".
I really cannot believe how many people choose to believe in these fables handed down from parent to child for centuries all the while refusing to see the selected writings favored and rejected to suit the particular sect of whatever belief ones family is in or what ever religion one stumbles on in a moment of weakness.

It really is sick if you look at it clearly, and it's ruining any chance we all have at happiness.

My belief is: if we all don't drop all this nonsense and start taking care of each other we are doomed as a race.
