I can truly say I am thankfull to be alive !!!

That's a great story.

My fathers people we deserters from the Austrian Armed Forces in the era of early 1900. Put their family on a steamer to the US and rowed a small boat out to the shipping lanes in hope of being picked up.
They were.

By far my favorite holiday. I wish everyone has a good one. Since I've been married we get a complete dinner pre-cooked, all we do is heat it up. Thanksgiving should be a day off. I remember seeing my mother slave away in the kitchen hours on end. I told my wife I want her to enjoy the holiday. Almost no work and stuff your face, then fishing or disc golf (weather permitting) watch the NFL games, have my two beers which is about all I consume for the year (literally). Unfortunately right now I'm suffering with a damn abscess around one of my molars. Might be tough to chew anything this year. I guess we can always puree everything...

A Thanksgiving tale:

It's no secret that my sister-on-law bugs the ever-lovin' stuffing outta me.

She's one of them militant feminist / ultra-liberal activist / earth-cookie vegetarian ppl that just get under your skin by polluting up your air with their self-righteousness & their facts & figures & politics & goofy assertions, ya know?

She came to my house for Thanksgiving a few years ago, & I was stymied. I know absolutely NOTHING about vegetarian cuisine, &, for the most part, I really hate vegetables.

So I went out & bought some kohlrabi, which I ran through a quisinart. Then I hand-mixed it with some garlic & spices & parmesan cheese. I shaped it, & wrapped it in cabbage leaves. I put it in a loaf pan, & added two pieces each of cauliflower & broccoli. It looked like a little green turkey when I was done.

It was cute as hell, but I doubt it tasted very good, if you aren't used to that sort of cabbageness. She ate it, though, & even asked to take the leftovers with her. (I think she was afraid I'd serve it to someone else!)

She said she liked it, but that Christmas, she sent me a vegetarian cookbook.

LMAO!

I hope you get to feeling better, bob! You might wanna add a touch of Wild Turkey (in keeping with the spirit of the holiday) to treat that toothache.

Crabs, crablegs, raw oysters, clams (raw, steamed or fried), scallops (sauteed, if you please), crawdads, mussels...just imagine...when I was a wee lad, all of that was considered to be po' folks food! We po' folks knew how to eat, & we did it well, until the rich bastids got into it, upped the prices on it all, & started to feed us *gasp* fake cheese!

Damn you, WIC Program!

I'm kinda weird because this is the first year I'm not cooking. My microwave went out and Cisco and I are installing the new one I bought which is going to take a few days. We're going to my friend's so I don't feel so bad. I offered to help out with some food, so I'll see what she says. She used to run a catering business so she's used to cooking a lot.

Thanks, funny you should mention that, my chiroprator recommended me using organic red wine vinegar as a mouthwash and swallowing it. It's working magic, my swelling is down. By swallowing it your body's pH is raised up giving the bacteria a hard time. If your body's pH is alkaline you usually are much healthier. Seems to be working but it's REALLY sour. Whew.
