MAN! I LOVE when you guys try to beat your personal convictions into each other...much better than UFC (WWE still has y'all beat, but keep trying).

I DO have opinions on this, but I need this time to go play my bass....

Didn't they jack up their rates?

I was never impressed with Netflix's selection.

I wish the Library of Congress worked more like Netflix. Every movie, book, album, EVERYTHING available on-demand. That would be so awesome.

Paul, look up "The Wild Wonderful Whites of West Virginia" on Netflix. Then you'll understand the previous comment. Then again, I promise you will be appalled...maybe that's not such a good idea.

I haven't read all 5 pages of this thread, but just wanted to say...

It is wrong to smoke in a car with children. Even with the windows down. I've done it, and I don't necessarily want to see laws changed about it, but... IT IS WRONG! In a society as advanced as ours, IT IS A FORM OF CHILD ABUSE I have decided, and I wouldn't do it again. Even when I used to do it, ALWAYS having my windows down, holding the cigarette out the window completely and not puffing at red lights... I STILL felt VERY guilty about it! That's what we are supposed to have conscience's for, and I betrayed mine!

There are MANY reasons NOT to smoke in close proximity to children!

1) Second Hand Smoke (most significant)
2) Hot ash burning them, when wind blows it back on them occassionally.
3) Bad example. Encourages them to try it later.
4) Smell of smoke. Kids are CRUEL at school, and mock them for smelling like an ash tray, teachers feel sorry for them.
5) Chance of car accident, from burning ashes flying around, or dropped cigarette that must be found right away, or burn through seats.

And what about the loss of a parent early, due to smoking-related illnesses? Are you shortchanging your children's financial futures as well, or their holidays and birthdays, because so much money gets spent on cigarettes?

Not to mention the added risk of fire in the home, or tempting kids with not only cigarettes, but young ones with all the lighters or matches laying around casually, because cigarettes demand a ready FIRE.

It's just wrong. I think in everyone's heart of hearts, they KNOW it is wrong. So... let's don't JUSTIFY our errors. Just admit them, and say that you are at fault, or better yet...

Care enough about your kids, to DO SOMETHING about it!

My ex wife's oldest son has asthma. She smoked during her pregnancy with him, but didn't with the other two. The other two DO NOT have asthma! Coincidence? Maybe. But sadly... probably not!

I love it when ppl wax on about tobacco. You'd think they think we haven't ever heard one of those propagandas out on every medium in the world.

I love it when people try to deny that tobacco kills. Like they don't personally know people dead from it.

Ah, 'tis a sacred herb, to many, Paul.

:D

I can honestly say that I've never known anyone who got cancer from second-hand smoke, Paul, & of the ppl I know who HAD cancer, it has never been definitively pointed out that tobacco was the sole cause for it. I suggest you find those other causes that exacerbate us smoker's carcinogens!

Then you need to watch "The Wild And Wounderful Whites"

If you can make it through the whole movie without breaking something then you will need a big shot of wiskey to calm your nerves.

I believe it does. But again there is absolutely no definitive proof.

Put enough nicotine in your mouth, you die. No matter whom you are.

Same can be said for water.

Smoking is considerably unhealthy and life threatening. There is no arguing these facts, considering the DECADES of scientific evidence proving this is true. But the thread started, by discussing CHILDREN being forcibly exposed to it! It's wrong to do so. Plain and simple. Anyone arguing that fact, is simply attempting to excuse his own guilt.

Watching people lie to anyone is bad enough. Watching them lie to THEMSELVES is especially disturbing!

Growth begins by an HONEST assessment of one's self.

"Anyone arguing that fact, is simply attempting to excuse his own guilt."

Wrong, Craig. Again, you assume too much. What makes you think I feel at all guilty?

The argument is - there are too many conflicting studies on the subject, many of which have obvious prejudice at their source...on BOTH sides of the issue.

Not you, not anyone, can conclusively say what tobacco will do to any given person, in average doses.

It's as simple as that.

Try a little of growth, to accept the REAL & TRUE facts on the matter, & put your prejudices aside.
