I just got a call from my ex-drummer Mark, he has an extra ticket for Experience Hendrix tonight at the Fillmore. Billy freaking Cox! Eric Johnson! Steve Vai. OMG!

Amazing. Fantastic. There aren't enough words to describe how cool this show was. It started with Billy Cox and Ernie Isley and continued with Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Living Color, Los Lobos, Susan Tedeski, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and finally Steve Vai. Everyone approached the music of Jimi Hendrix from their angle, and every interpretation was great. Of particular note, Ernie Isley, Vernon Reid and of course Vai were mind blowing. Reid sounded a lot like Zappa on some of his leads, taking Hendrix to the next level had he lived. Memorable.

Jimmy you always make me jealous with the shows that come thru your area. Living near Memphis you would think we would get more of these types of shows.

I saw Eric Johnson at BB Kings

I went to a G3 show a few years back and saw Lang, Vai and Satch

I saw Jeff Beck and Santana at Mud Island

Malmsteen was scheduled to play a club I used to play, but supposedly showed up and changed his mind LOL

Ive seen Trower 3 times in my area thru the years

I saw Living Color at Memphis State during thier heyday with Candlebox as an opener. I love Reid!

Of course the late Shawn Lane was from Memphis and I saw him quite a bit for a while, til he became a recluse

Eric Gales pops up from time to time, but hes from here

I would love to see that Hendrix tour

Yea go ahead and keep rubbing it in!

Thanks for sharing!

Sorry John! I didn't even plan on this one but I'm glad I went. Man I saw some great shows this year. The Cult was in town last night but by Friday I'm whipped.
