Former Journey frontman Steve Perry, who left the band 12 years ago, is said to be eager to reunite with his bandmates following the continued success of the band's 1981 hit "Don't Stop Believin'," which was most recently featured on the Fox showGlee. According to London's Daily Star, Perry, who left the band in 1998 rather than be forced into hip-surgery so that the band could tour behind their hit reunion album Trial By Fire, has since been replaced by various sound-alike vocalists. Journey co-founder Neal Schon was quoted by PerezHilton.com as saying, "(Steve) seems to be enjoying the spotlight a little too much. The fact is he's no longer the lead singer. He walked out."

Regardless of Perry not being welcomed back into the band, there's been no confirmation as to whether Perry has actually asked Journey to allow him to return. Journey, with latest lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, will release their latest studio album next year.

I thought he left them back in the 80's when he went solo.

Never was a big fan, just liked a few hits.

But... I am also now, an Arnel Pineda fan! I love his story of being discovered on YouTube by Neal Schon, who at first did not believe it was really Arnel singing, until he saw other videos, and Arnel... who did not believe it was really Neal Schon on the phone, when Neal called him!

But... Many who grew up with the original Journey, would LOVE to see Steve Perry back and reuinted. If the call is loud enough, who knows how the band then responds. But right now... They are making MINT... why change what's working?

Not a fan of Journey with the exception of the first album which was pretty cool. I'll bet most of you have never heard it; it was around 1975 after Schon and Rollie left Santana.

True this was their ONLY good album... unless your a 13 year old girl

Or even a 43 year old girl. We went to see our bass player's cover band last Friday night and they did the most horrible version of "Don't Stop Believin" yet the dance floor was packed with drunken idiots singing that crap at the top of their lungs. Arrrggggh!!

Journey has some GREAT songs! Classics!

Wow!!! I always liked Journey after Neil was in. His playing is so smooth and fluid, even at speed. Anyway...

Wha? Schon was a founding member of the band. And heavy? I have pillows that are heavier than Journey. They were founded for one purpose: Greg Rollie was tired of not making money in Santana. To me they represent all that is wrong with "classic" rock.

Along the same lines, Bad Company was formed to be a commercial success; the members all came from bands that were artistic yet commercial flops (The Free, King Crimson, Mott the Hoople). Sure the first record was pretty good and they went on to sell lots of units but the smell of "sell out" is strong. Once you decide to do it mainly for the money you are no longer an artist.
