I've been working on some new lyrics...I figured I'd post them and see what y'all think. I DO know the meaning of them, but I want to see what other people make of them.

Munday's Battle

Munday's battle begins
In the shackles of a reaccurring dream
Scraping the bottom of the barrel
Peaking out at the treacherous scenery
Don Quixote's powder keg
Is this THE dream machine?
Riding the brim
Between fantasy and insanity

October nights grow colder
Another moment passes by
"Headlong into Chaos"
becomes a fervent battlecry
"Don't try this at home"
The daredevil smiles wide
Steps off the path of reason
To get to the other side

It's never the fall that kills you
It's the sudden stop at the end

I'm over the edge and I'm tumbling
The waters' rumbling, exciting and humbling
I'm over the edge and I'm falling
The juices flowing as destiny's calling
I'm over the edge or am I dreaming?
Could it be myself I hear screaming?
I'm over the edge, I've got the feeling
Vision swirling, my senses reeling

A maple leaf flows down river
To the land of prosperity
Twisted in the clutches
Of what could be and uncertainty
Thunder drowning out
The warnings of authority
Going down for the third time...

I like it. It's more like poetry than lyrics, imho, but it certainly will work as a lyric.

Lotsa mixed metaphors! Makes ya think, yet it still has visual imagery.

Good stuff, joseph.

When we gonna talk about getting together for some music?

First of the year we're gonna jam-one way or the other!

The next couple of weeks are pretty busy at work for me, but weather permitting, I'm hoping to make another trip to Harpers Ferry before long.

I'll let ya know ahead of time so that we can make the proper arrangements.

I've been pondering that same question for years. I gave up trying to figure it out so I go fishing instead...

Interesting take on Don Quixote the danger was imagined dragons, where here, the imagined dragons lead to the danger. It carries to the next verse where any change, including chaos, is better than the current system.

We need warning labels that tell us hot coffee is hot and razor blades may be sharp. Also the status quo is the safest course (don’t try this at home). Except for the elite (the daredevil) who can do what they please.

It's never the fall that kills you
It's the sudden stop at the end

Those that do stress the limitations for no other reason than to see if they can break, will eventually succeed in doing something stupid.

A maple leaf flows down river

Of what could be and uncertainty
Thunder drowning out
The warnings of authority
Going down for the third time.

Interesting verse. Was it on purpose that it’s uncertain (of what could be) that it’s uncertainty? Not knowing the nature of the problem means there could be no solution. (Thunder drowning out the warnings of authority). Another cool line as much as authority likes to be the end all power, the danger they create is puny compared to the danger that is real.

(Going down for the third time) The end.

I agree with gtZip crumbling government or deterioration of society would be my best guess.

That's fantastic! I love the translation...There's also a very literal meaning (there's a hint in the title...spelling?)

Twas a bad joke, really. Definitely not an insult of your intellect.

After reading over it a couple of times it's really starting to make sense. Although it may be my own version, I'm starting to see a pattern. I'll have to come back when I assume I really know what I'm talking about.
